Wow. While I knew he was a wrestler, my first memories of him are from his appearance on Married With Children. I didn't know much about his career until I got older and started renting older tapes and going through the piles of old wrestling magazines we had. It was simply an amazing career had. RIP. Actually, it turns out the creators of Married With Children named the Bundy family after him as a tribute. It's only fitting that he got to appear in 2 episodes of the show. For many, their most vivid memory of King Kong Bundy is the Wrestlemania 2 main event against Hulk Hogan in LA. But to me, it was 1 year later when he ended Little Beaver's career at Wrestlemania 3, squashing him like a bug with that big splash. One of the best monster heels in his prime, underrated as hell. I was also hoping for him to be in the Hall of Fame while he was alive but alas, it wasn't meant to be. I know the general story of that match is supposed to be, "Oh, poor Little Beaver!", but honestly, Little Beaver had that coming, considering how many times he kept interfering in the match and being a douche, and Jack Lutz letting things slide because Bundy was a heel. And big. Also, the producers of Married... with Children always made it clear that it was King Kong Bundy that was the inspiration for them naming the family as such because people kept making comments about them being named after the serial killer Ted Bundy.

Bundy has always been a favorite of mine in terms of big men. The black singlet, shaved eyebrows... a simple but iconic look IMO. His LJN figure was a bonafide weapon that got me through many a tight spot in elementary school.
RIP King Kong Bundy.

Someone tell me there's no such thing as curses, I think I need the reminder, as first there's our three, and second 2018 going on '19 continues to be devastating for wrestling.
He was the first WrestleMania main event heel for my career as a wrestling fan. Not only that, but everyone used to say my dad (also RIP, also this month, four years ago) should shave his head as they'd look identical.
Met him several times on the indy circuit and conventions, and I was never disappointed.
Should have been a HOFer instead of, say, Torrie...but I think he was one who didn't want to be there, and was opiniated about WWE and people there. Not only that but he was another on that CTE list...and that's messed up a LOT of guys getting their due...Ivan Koloff was another one.

I've already posted my condolences, so just a thought/joke...
I hope that there's a 15-bell salute to him at the next WWE show.

I understand your sympathy, and I agree that he is deserving of a HOF induction. It would have been much more meaningful, had he been alive, but lumping Torrie into this, isn't necessary. They could have both been inducted this year, for all we know. RIP to King Kong Bundy, and condolences to you, on the loss of your dad.

Beautiful tribute to George Steele from Enzo: Â I'm hoping he meant his grandmother was a Bundy fan, while he liked Steele. But then again, Enzo.

Beautiful tribute to George Steele from Enzo: Did Enzo ghostwrite Madonna's tribute to Aretha Franklin too?

I guess I got off easy...wasn't ragged on for talking about the Rule of Threes and curses and all again.... But really, I see what you're saying and maybe I should have worded it differently indeed. Like I said my dad passed 4 years ago...eerily also in March AND I believe he was 61....

It's actually kinda baffling to me he never transitioned to a different role. If he was younger in the WWE today, there'd practically be a road paved for him straight to the announcer's table. Definitely someone who shoulda got more chances to show off his different sides.

Bundy trolling Honky Tonk Man in shoots about never tipping at restaurants was hilarious, only for HTM to respond and be legitimately pissed to the point of screaming.

Bah. Awful news.
I met him in '97 at a signing. I was a freshman in High school. He was extremely nice and just seemed really happy to be there. He made sure he made time to talk to everyone for a min or 2 as they came up. I did have a fun exchange:
Me: Longtime fan. Him: I appreciate that bud. Thanks for coming out Me: So, I've got a few people at school that are kinda jerks. Feel like coming to school with me tomorrow and scaring some folks? Him: You'd be surprised at how often I get requests like that....well, that and helping people move. because I'm a big guy and people think I like lifting stuff. For the record, I do not. But scaring folks by strolling in and growling? That I'll do. Me: So, you're in? Him: No. (laughs) but thanks for coming out. You seem like a good kid.

Truth be told I thought he was a lot older than 61. Just one of those guys who seemed to be around forever. 61's way too young.
RIP King Kong Bundy.

And now I am looking back on the times I met KKB and am struggling to think...which '80s legends were accepting of fans and funny as hell in a non-PC way? Cause he was both. I can't think of many like him now.
