David Bixenspan, who covers wrestling for Deadspin, has said the October 1986 Bret Hart vs. Tom Magee match will be on WWE Network in the next 2-3 weeks.

Ready to be disappointed due to ridiculously high expectations How can it not? It has been built up to mythical proportions. I am positive that some people will go in thinking that they are about to watch a 5 or 6 star mat classic. However, all it will really be is Bret Hart making a green, muscular rookie look better than he actually was, but nothing more. If nothing else, I hope this gets Tom Magee a couple of pay days on the podcast and convention circuit like with Starrcast. He seems like a good dude who recently had some bad luck.

Yeah it didn't seem all that impressive from the brief clip that was shown a few weeks ago, a typical match where Bret can make a guy like a Paul Roma or Tom Magee look good.

Really you need to have it as a 2 in 1 with another Magee match so you can contrast how good Bret made him look.

People need to remember this was a really good match for 1986 not 2019.

Personally, I think it's going to hit all expectations. It's Bret making a dire guy look like a main eventer. having seen other Magee matches, and then seeing the snippets we've seen of this match, it's a MASSIVE improvement. I'm pumped to see what Bret got out of him.

Did Meltzer give this match 7.2 stars?

They'll think he's just some lumbering muscle guy like Hercules or Warlord, who we know Bret could get a decent match out of.

Just as an explanation for anyone unaware, this isn't legendary because it's a lost all time great match. It's legendary because Bret is able to elevate someone who is notoriously awful to look like a megastar.
By all accounts this is a masterclass on how Bret can make someone look good when they're anything but.

I wonder if they'll put it out before Starrcast, just to f*** them over even more.

Really you need to have it as a 2 in 1 with another Magee match so you can contrast how good Bret made him look. I was looking around the Hidden Gems section last night and they have a match with McGee v Dibiase. I didn't watch it but he has one other match up there.

Dear God! How the hell can you do that to a 59 year old man! I hope they throw those pieces of garbage under the jail.

Being honest up until the recent excitement over it being found I had never even heard of this match.

I already know Bret can carry a slug (Bulldog) to a great match.

I already know Bret can carry a slug (Bulldog) to a great match. I don't think you may be gauging just how unbelievably awful MaGee was. Anyone questioning why this was such a feat of Bret's should watch this mercifully short Japanese match MaGee had:
