"You're never going to make everyone happy. Some people say you're rushing too much, or you're taking too long. Everybody's going to have an opinion. My advice is to sit back, watch the show, and enjoy it, quit trying to direct it."
"For Cain, he's got to feel his way around. My first match was against Hulk Hogan for the World Championship, so I can't really throw that 'rushing' rock in a glass house, you know what I mean? If opportunity knocks, take it. You can't get mad at anyone who gets an opportunity and they take it."

As long as the prevailing belief is that people are just arbitrarily choosing not to enjoy the show rather than not being entertained, nothing can ever change

Most people want to enjoy the show, if the product sucks it's on the company not the audience, it's simple

Another vet going out of his way to say something that's going to piss people off.

I saw this yesterday with a click-baity title, reading what he actually said didn’t sound too bad, but then watching his delivery I’m not so sure, lol. It’s the face he does afterwards that leads me to believe he’s holding back on his true feelings (I mean, this is a fluff interview WWE arranged with TMZ so of course he is).
I’m guilty of “directing” the show when I watch. I’ve been reading about wrestling on the internet too long to not do that! It’s really fun when you can get caught up in the story and not focus on booking decisions, but that’s really hard to do with the main roster. So much is just shit that you know will lead to more shit, and whenever something really good shows up (like Firefly Funhouse) I’m just kind of waiting for them to ruin it. The last time I remember really getting caught up and being on the edge of my seat with the main roster was Ronda/Kurt vs Stephanie/HHH.

He’s right in a sense.
Lots of fans watch wrestling as if they’re the producer or the writers. I’ve done it myself.
I find myself enjoying it a hell of a lot more when I’m not playing arm chair booker. Why? Because I don’t play out scenarios in my head and then be upset when they don’t come through.
But shit like The Fiend/Rollins at HIAC, The Wild Card Rule etc just sucks ass and there is no defending that. We are not rebelling, we are voicing our opinion. There’s a difference.

I can't get over Big Show in glasses. He looks like a fat hipster nerd.
I'm sure we can all have a discussion about what he's saying about wrestling fans and shit, but who the hell cares, just look at him. He looks like he's about to plug his podcast about his favorite '80s action figures.

So his stance is "shut up and don't think"? Nah. Sorry. The show is shitty.

I sit back and enjoy 4 hours of wrestling every Wednesday, and 2 hours on Tuesdays. RAW and SmackDown? Those shows suck monumentally and deserve to be crapped on.

But shit like The Fiend/Rollins at HIAC, The Wild Card Rule etc just sucks ass and there is no defending that. We are not rebelling, we are voicing our opinion. There’s a difference. I feel like most people don't default to sitting there picking apart the f*** out of everything they watch, and the fact they sit there asking things like "What is the point of this?" and "Wait, but didn't they build up to a mystery partner? The f*** happened to that?" is a sign they aren't being engaged by the media in front of them. If your mind is going off onto how what you're watching is nonsense, it generally means you're watching nonsense, and that in the absence of enjoying yourself, you're stuck thinking. There's people who are going to sit there and analyze stuff no matter what--I'm one of them, generally--but the thing is that something entertaining will still keep me engaged and have me appreciating what's in front of me. The implication coming out of the 'Just shut up and enjoy it' thing over and over is that people are convincing themselves they don't like something that's actually good, and if they would just stop trying to pretend they know better and admit they like it, everyone would be happier. It's an attitude that comes from a position of dismissiveness and ego.

I kind of fantasy book everything I watch. It's just sort of what I do. But the thing is, while, say, season 3 of She-Ra did some things I find questionable or that I wouldn't have done personally, I still consider it good television taken on what it actually did. I can't say the same for WWE.

I know that other posters have asked this before, but I think it should be repeated here: is there any other company that actively hates it's fan base as much as WWE?

Eh, I'm not mad at him saying this. Mainly because there are indeed an immense amount of critiques and criticism towards the product today, a lot of it negative, and I think just the sheer volume of it is irking everyone in the company a little bit. It's like any given person in any given room with like 4 others trying to talk to them at the same time. They would be inclined to just yell "Shut up!" at all the noise.

^ That said... I know that other posters have asked this before, but I think it should be repeated here: is there any other company that actively hates it's fan base as much as WWE? ...nope. The only other companies that come close are... any other wrestling company.

...OK, there are a couple. At least a couple video game companies with a "just shut up and enjoy the product" mentality. EA is a good one.
