New music is so phony and repetative..... Look harder. That would require effort, it is much easier to complain. So far you haven't touched on anything that is my cup of tea, but to each there own. I have gotten over the whole "if I don't like it tis is awful" phase. Every thing, has validity. You just may not see it, or want to see it.

What this list needs is: Bob Dylan's Modern Times ....and that's all.

If Peeping Tom isn't on here (let alone #1), the list is bogus.
Jed Shaffer ~Radiohead better be releasing some new stuff this year. Four years, boys!

Last year was all about Ghostfaces 'Fishscale', this year all i give a crap about is the MF Doom/Ghostface LP. I don't mean to hijack this thread, but MF Doom and Ghostface are doing a CD together?! "The Mask" is my favorite track off of Danger Doom's "The Mouse And The Mask", and lord knows I've been listening for Wu-Tang off and on for years now... Any word on a date? Is Danger Mouse gonna be back for a few songs? Any leaks? ANYTHING?! EDIT: CLICK HERE to listen to "Angeles"... A song that's, oddly enough, about Charlie's Angels... They actually use the Charlie's Angels theme song as the beat... Ghostface's flow is a thing of beauty...

If this list doesn't conform to my exact likes and desires... it blows! /douchebag And this is why you're my kinda person In any case, on to numbah 8! The Mars Volta - Amputechture en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AmputechtureYep, bigHEADinc...you called it. Definitely one of my faves of last year, and another one I need to get around to listening to again. After Frances the Mute, MV is on top of their game again. I liked Frances a lot...but there was just a BIT too much feedback and noise and not quite enough music for my tastes. This one however, is absolutely brilliant. Wondeful music, great cryptic(as always) lyrics from Cedric...amazing musicianship all around...and just yeah. Oddly, this is the first MV album that ISN'T a concept album. But that doesn't make it any less amazing. If you've never heard the album...you should definitely give it a listen. It's a step up from Frances the Mute, to those of you that were extremely disappointed in it. Still not QUITE as good as De-Loused, but amazing nonetheless.

So far none of these would make my top 10. Tool's album i found dissapointing really. Haven't heard Mars Volta's album, Frances The Mute put me off.
Anyway i'll post my top 10 at the end of this thread.

As I recommended...you should check it out.
It's a lot more organized than Frances the Mute was. There's a lot more actual MUSIC and a lot less bleeps and blips and stuff.

If this list doesn't conform to my exact likes and desires... it blows! /douchebag Peeping Tom's was the only album of 2006 I really liked. All the other big releases I was banking on (Slayer, Iron Maiden, Pearl Jam and Tool) fell short. So anything other then Peeping Tom, for my tastes, renders this list null for me. I fail to see douchebaggery there. Jed Shaffer ~Here's hoping Radiohead delivers this year. I need it.

I'm glad you took it personally.... it was meant as a jab at all who would, no doubt, jump in screaming about how his opinions are wrong.
.. that's my damn gimmick.

Time for the 7! Mastodon - Blood Mountain en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blood_Mountain_%28album%29Yeah, this album is intense. Seriously. The concept surrounding it is really cool...going through different stages of psychosis while climbing a mountain to the peak...it's just all very awesome. And the music itself is just SO amazing. I can't believe these guys aren't bigger than they are. If more attention is paid to them, they're destined to become legends. That's how amazing these guys are. Easily the best metal album of last year. Go listen now.

Kinda seemed pointed. And since my post would seemingly fall into your criteria, it WAS pointed at me. Hence, rebuttal. Jed Shaffer ~Odds are, he hasn't even heard of Peeping Tom. Most people haven't.
