I'm not crazy about MCR but they are much better then Fall Out Boy. These choices aren't much of my tastes (except Mastodon, awesome...) but I've heard of most of them and see why they got picked. I'm more of a Metal person myself. My favorite band ever is System of a Down, followed closely by Slipknot and Disturbed. But I found I really like Panic! At the Disco, a couple MCR songs and a very occasional FOB song(depends on my mood...) Good to know there are people out there with an open mind I can't say I'm much of a fan of Disturbed...but Slipknot's last album was good...it's the only one of theirs I like, but I like it a lot. A definite step in the right direction. And System of a Down is just absolutely amazing.

Yeah, SOAD's 1st album is my favorite album, ever. Disturbed last album (10,000 Fists) was kind of disappointing, I like the older stuff a lot better. Same with Slipknot, IMO. I like a little bit of everything rock, really. As long as its not rap or country, I'm alright.

That's a HUGELY unpopular opinion around...everywhere, but I personally thought it was spectacular, and the most complete work as a whole. I'm not sure why, it just struck me as their best.

Yeah that was a really good release, for some reason a lot of thier old school fans bitched about it a lot... I have yet to hear a song from them that I don't like; it makes me sad they went on hiatus.

Yeah that was a really good release, for some reason a lot of thier old school fans complain and/or rude femaleed about it a lot... I have yet to hear a song from them that I don't like; it makes me sad they went on hiatus. As it does me. I'm still dying to see them live. I will someday, whenever they get back together. But yeah, M/H was AWESOME, at least to me. It was their most powerful release, at least to me. I'm not sure why so many old-school fans got all up in arms about it. I guess because Daron sings a lot or something. I've heard some people say they got "too political" with it...but they've ALWAYS been that way...so y'know, that one doesn't even make sense.

Oh yeah they've always been really political, but on M/H they weren't as subtle with it as they were in the past. Daron's vocals are awesome, so I loved that much of it.

Ditto. Daron's vocals are AWESOME, as are Serj's, and I think there's a good mix of both on the newer CDs.

Oh yeah. I'm listening to "Dreaming" from Hypnotize right now, and the mix is perfect on that song.

That's an amazing one. I love how the vocals weave in and out of each other on the verses.

Yeah, that's my favorite part on that one. My dad's a big liberal, and he loves SOAD just because of BYOB. That's one the best songs they've ever made, I think.

Haha yeah...I'm quite a huge liberal myself...that's why I fell in love with them in the first place. But we'd best not get into much more of a discussion on that.

I suppose it's time to induct the other number 1! And, like MCR, it'll probably come as a surprise to no one who knows my musical taste. AFI - Decemberunderground This is another one that just completely blew away my expectations, and I didn't really have any for it. I was trying to keep an open mind, and hoping they wouldn't do another Sing the Sorrow. Not that STS wasn't amazing...I love it just as much as DU...I just didn't want another album of the same stuff. Unfortunately it seems like most AFI fans DID want another STS. Or another Art of Drowning...or more of the same of their old stuff...in any case, everyone wanted something they didn't do. But personally, I found this album to be gorgeous and amazing in every way. It was a new direction for them, but it also seemed like a logical step in evolution of their sound. It was a bit brighter, but it still managed to maintain a lot of dark sound and feel to it, especially in songs like "The Interview", "Kiss and Control", "37mm", and "Endlessly, She Said". But every song on this album is amazing in one way or another...and I love the bleak but hopeful feeling the album just seems to emanate through every song. Whether it's one of the catchier ones, or one of the darker ones...it's all just amazing in every way. Each song flows together perfectly...and just...yeah. The ONLY complaint I have about the whole album is that there's no secret track...it just sorta ends after "Endlessly, She Said"...and I was sorta expecting something afterward...but aside from that...this album is truly one that will be played by me for years to come.

Okay, time for the number ones! Yeah, number ones. Two albums hit me more than any other last year...and as hard as I tried, I couldn't really pick out one that was better. So here we go, with my two absolute favourites of last year! My Chemical Romance - The Black Parade I used to really hate MCR, but man I gave that album a chance and really enjoyed it, not sure if I'll go for their other stuff, but The Black Parade is great, that and Stadium Arcadium were the best of 06 in my view (but like I said I don't have much from the year to begin with)

Personally, I LOVE their old stuff as well. They're one of my favourite bands ever, and they were before TBP came out. TBP just pretty much solidified it forever.

As promised, my top 10 of 2006:
1. My Chemical Romance - The Black Parade 2. The Killers - Sam's Town 3. The Kooks - Inside In/Inside Out 4. Lostprophets - Liberation Transmission 5. Muse - Blackholes & Revelations 6. Arctic Monkeys - Whatever People Say I Am That's What I'm Not 7. Gallows - Orchestra Of Wolves 8. Boy Kill Boy - Civilian 9. Killswitch Engage - As Daylight Dies 10. Panic! At The Disco - A Fever You Can't Sweat Out
That was pretty hard to narrow down really, but still not as many good albums last year as 05 or 04 IMO.

There were a lot of good albums last year for me. I bolded the ones out of your list I love, or like. Some of them I just haven't heard though. So I might dig some of those. I'll check them out eventually. Pretty good list though. I'll have my honourable mentions up in a bit.
