I thought he already did.
But yeah, makes too much sense. He's probably the quickest built WWE legend in the company's lifetime with all the achievements and likely had a job for life when he carried Shane to likely the best match of his career.

Honestly a no-brainer for him.

Regardless of the company, AJ having made it, having an exemplary career and ending up in the biggest wrestling company and consistently payed and handled alright brings my heart a lot of joy. AJ absolutely deserves it.

They treated him exactly how he should have been, they’ve been good to him.

Also to add...WWE lost a bunch of experienced people to free agency and, as I said when Owens signed, you need to sign and keep people to give the perception (to shareholders and networks mostly) that you're not just letting anyone slip away considering the rumored reaction from FOX of Adam Cole's contract going and the like.
So keeping people like Owens, Zayn and AJ, that's three vets that'll help keep star power on your show and help get the next generation ready for the main roster.

He’s in his 40’s, has been everywhere, and is getting paid A LOT!!
Plus he’s expressed interest in potentially becoming a trainer once he retires.
No surprise here.

Wasn't he also on Kahn's short list of people to release?

not surprised at all
just hope AJ knows that the length on the contract isn't worth the paper it's printed on, on the very off chance he's a victim of "budget cuts"

The deal is "well over 3M a year."
Raking in that cash money.

So read that it is apparently well over 3mil a year and travel accomidations.
So all in all not bad get the bag while he winds down his career and probably wanting a trainer role.

If anybody deserves it, it’s him. He’s probably a lifer at this point, even if he eventually signs a less lucrative deal one day. I could see him leading up the performance center/developmental.

I don't know what AJ did to make Vince fall in love with the guy but he is easily the most 'made' signing WWE's had in the past ten years. It's a no-brainer to stick with WWE for a truck full of money

AJ is about trying to get paid as much as possible, completely certain he's the guy that said AEW wasn't offering mainevent talent enough money.

I said this recently, but AJ has had a far better run than even the biggest skeptic could have imagined and has been treated better than he ever was in TNA. This makes all the sense in the world
