I'm totally fine with the idea of Corey going gonzo and Michael not being in the film as much. It's just boring. I feel like a lot of the Halloween films are slower than the typical slasher movie...which is fine if you're building up to something or establishing characters, but this one just had a whole lot of nothing

Director's response to bad receptionMy favorites include: Never once considered making "Halloween Ends", with its Laurie and Michael-based marketing, a movie about Laurie and Michael. I just. Heaven forbid the movie that had other references, have this one. It'd only be for the fans who know what Silver Shamrock is, anyway. I shudder at the fact that this guy is moving on to The Exorcist.

The marketing is one thing, because I mean marketing team was kinda screwed over there, since the film is you know freaking called Halloween Ends, and to be frank it would be damn near impossible to actually market the actual main part of the film(let’s be real marketing any Halloween film around a rando named Corey would instantly kill that film’s draw, they HAD to market around Michael and Laurie, and again given the name I do not blame the marketing team for making this look and sound like a climactic Laurie vs Michael film). And also not wanting to do that ending because of it being fanservice? The actual hell? 2018 Halloween was filled with fanservice!

This is totally not on them for marketing it the way they were told, because you can't tell me they weren't told to market it exactly this way. The marketing itself, in a bubble, isn't bad and the team did fine. It's just all the other stuff surrounding it that makes it ridiculous. 2018 had a ton of fan service, Kills had all these returning characters (and actors, in some cases), and Halloween Ends itself had stuff like the shout out to 1978's viewing of the OG version of The Thing, by having Corey and that annoying kid watching Carpenter's version of The Thing. Also, the title card font was clearly a shout out to Season of the Witch itself! I'm really not one to pass along links and continue to stir a pot, but I read this and had to. I just can't with everything in it.

Cochran vs Michael Place Your Bets Dare I say, I'm sorry Rob Zombie for shitting on Halloween after this shit happened In my opinion, if they weren't called Halloween nor had any connection they'd be fine. Helck, I remember someone saying those films are better Jason movies than Michael movies.

Once he decided to explain Michael's back story, he should have divided the film. Once he gets into retelling the original film, his Michael is scary as f***. His sequel... is an interesting idea.

I love Halloween 3, so including Silver Shamrock would've been amazing. I still haven't seen it yet. As bad as it sounds like it is... I'll still be purchasing it because I'm a completist.

Now, I'm not so confident in saying that.

Even still it has a 50/50 shot of being better.

My wife and I finally watched this last night. Awful, awful movie and this should've NEVER been a trilogy. I thought Halloween 2018 was awesome and had a perfect ending to the series. Kills and Ends just added more shitty movies to the series and delivered one of the most anticlimactic endings I can remember.

At this point bring me a mutiverse. With multiple Lauries, multiple Michaels, Busta rhymes, josh Hartnettjusy go nuts. It could never happen but I can pretend I'd watch this. Michael Myers vs Busta Rhymes IS money. How about: Michael Myers vs Tony Hawk: Blood on the Half-pipe

I quite enjoyed Ends, so I’m kind of surprised to see it getting trashed so hard here. Thought it was a pretty good story and ending to Michael complete with de facto funeral procession.
Different strokes and all of that. 🤷🏻♂️

"Whenever Corey's not on screen, all the other characters should be asking 'Where's Corey?'"
"Halloween Ends" fell flat on its face for a number of reasons for me, not the least of which was their insistence on devoting so much time and oxygen to Corey or Corey-adjacent conversations. I can't think of a more inconsequential character in legacy horror that got such an overabundance of screen time. His whole story arc, from the harmless babysitter who commits a life-altering mistake to the tortured soul tormented by the residents of Haddonfield to the heir apparent to Michael Myers could have been achieved in half the time dedicated to it, and the movie would have been better off for it.
Also, the movie betrayed its own existing characters and the motivations we've seen from them for the past two films. Laurie Strode spent the better part of 40 years preparing for Michael Myers' return, turning her own home into a fortress while he was safely locked away behind bars, but now that he's actually gone missing for the past four years - after killing her daughter - she's found peace and serenity? Shouldn't she be doing even more to harden her property knowing that Michael is out there and could literally return at any moment?
But the most egregious sin was what they did to Allyson. In the first two movies, she was a world-weary, wise-beyond-her years teenager. Now she's running off with the local bad boy who clearly has emotional problems within (at best) a week of meeting him? And after four years of taking Laurie's advice on how to handle life situations, she's suddenly betraying that trust because she went on a few rides with this brooding guy on his bike? And she didn't even get her redemption angle. She never found out that Corey was actually evil and she only returned to Laurie's house after this random hunch she had while driving away.
Just a startlingly bad movie, a weak limp to the finish line for this trilogy.

Did my rewatch after putting it off. I hated it even more. I loved season of the witch but this was trash and reminded me more of jason goes to hell. The bullies and sewer scenes being especially horrible. Bring back Busta Rhymes
