I kind of want every rumble to include the champion, they enter at 30 but it's for the title. Make it high stakes and you still have time before Mania to build up the challenger. Make the Rumble for the title and then use Elimination Chamber to name the challenger for Mania. Makes both ppv's even more important, especially Elimination Chamber.

To be fair we did just have 15 years of John Cena the uber-babyface who never lost.

This one hurts. My brother and I would do the bushwhacker march all the time as little kids. There's quite a few pictures of us in our young days doing the bushwhacker arms. For whatever reason we really liked those guys. RIP Butch.

I was wondering if having Lashley come out and do nothing was actually trying to help cover for the womens four way going short.

Most guys of Cena's stature would demand to win, main event, wrestle for the championship, or at least be hugely promoted and treated like a big deal. You say that like it's a bad thing. I'm sure he doesn't care as he's so successful and busy in Hollywood these days and this is just a side quest for him and he's happy to show up every year or so, catch up with old friends and lose to whoever they ask him to but as a fan I think he should be treated as a bigger deal. I'm not saying he has to win or main event every match but I'd like him to at least say "hey, I'm too valuable to be getting squashed in 3 minutes by 55 year old Undertaker or lose midcard matches to Austin Theory." He's such a big star that his drawing power isn't hurt and he'll still sell a ton of tickets every time he appears but he's in that period that guys like Foley/Jericho/Danielson have been in over the years were I just expect them to lose every big match because they will put over anyone, even if in some cases they should say no for their own good. It's just refreshing to not have a part time guy who is a legend come in and immediately run over everyone. I love Steve Austin and it was great to see him come back but I'm glad it was shortlived. Those guys shouldn't go over the new guys or the business doesn't move forward.

I think that lost in everything that happened on night 2 was something that happened on night 1 and was a bigger deal than has been given credit for. John Cena opened Wrestlemania and lost to Austin Theory. He didn't cut a promo on him later or anything, just lost the match and wasn't seen again.
Now imagine that happening with a 45 year old Austin, Hogan, Rock, Undertaker etc. A certifiable legend, a Mount Rushmore WWE guy, who shows up for Mania to lose in the opening match to a guy who is young and getting his first real push. Most guys of Cena's stature would demand to win, main event, wrestle for the championship, or at least be hugely promoted and treated like a big deal. I was so impressed with Cena just coming in and putting Theory over without needing to get any of his heat back or anything in a promo or post match beat down.
Now, the match wasn't great but regardless, just impressed at the lack of ego on John Cena in this instance. Never been his biggest fan but he allowed himself to be used the same way every older legend should be used. Clearly still great but lost a step or two. One ball shot and one finisher and that was it.

I think Bret remembers every match he ever had and can tell you the date, opponent, result, and high spots plus how they were called in the ring. Jericho seems similar.
Meanwhile I've heard shoots with guys who have to be reminded of even their biggest moments.

If you follow the AE Podcast's Smackdown Crawl, there was a mostly forgotten angle being set up around the time that Chyna faced Lita, with Eddie Guerrero schmoozing his way into Team Extreme - Eddie comes out to watch their title match at Judgement Day. If Eddie didn't get fired, they speculated that it might have led to Eddie and Chyna getting back together and sticking to the 'Bonnie and Clyde' heel dynamic against Lita and Matt. This would have been probably the best way to use her at that point. Pair her up with someone she could do intergender tag matches with. Heck, they could create an intergender tag team championship, that would be kind of fun. Around that time you had Lita and Matt, Eddie and Chyna, Trish and Val, maybe Molly and Spike, or Torrie and Kidman. Just make it fun. Nidia and Jamie Noble was later on. It would give Chyna something to do and also kind of keep her out of the IC title scene.

I remember where I was for a lot of these guys but what's crazy to me now is looking at the guys who died when I was younger and how young they really were.
Owen - 34 years old Eddie - 38 years old Benoit - 40 years old
I was 11, 17, and 19 when they all died. But now, at 34, almost 35, those ages seem criminally young. And also weird because Benoit and Eddie felt like they were much older.

I'm not sure Rock is the only person this is true of though. I think they'd do the same for Austin as well. And if it was Vince and he could move I'm not 100% sure he wouldn't do that for Hogan. That would be a way to derail things though. Reigns wins by cheating and Hogan comes out to avenge Rhodes and wins the title. Austin maybe? No way for Hogan though even if Vince has/had full control. The Hogan part was with the caveat that Hogan could still go. So say it was like 2004 or something.

3) A phone call from The Rock. Even at the 11th hour, if Dwayne decides he's available to put his cousin over at Wrestlemania, you'll be certain that Trips & co. would shuffle things around to make it happen. I’m not saying you’re wrong, but goddamn sometimes it feel like The Rock has a Game Genie for life. I mean has any wrestler ever had that much sway at this level? The Rock hasn’t wrestled a match over 10 seconds in nearly 10 years and with a last minute phone call he could not only win the main event at the biggest show of the year for the biggest company but also derail months (if not years) of booking. I know you said he’d put Roman over, but I’m sure WWE would love to squeeze some more appearances out of him and if he wanted to win, he’d win. Oh yeah, also the guy who would bend over backwards to make this happen (HHH) was at last rumored to hate/strongly dislike him in the past.

I'd argue Bret putting Shawn over at Wrestlemania 12 cemented him as the Mr. Wrestlemania guy that he turned into.

If Warrior hadn't been fired then I think WM 8 gets a shakeup and we potentially get Flair/Hogan and Warrior/Sid. I think you could also get a more fun version where Warrior wins the Rumble in 1992 and faces Hogan in a rematch from WM6. The shakedown could still give you Flair/Savage as another big match. Maybe Sid vs Undertaker, which means the streak perhaps never happens if Sid goes over. Bret/Piper still happens. Maybe you push Jake further down the card or right off the card?

I kind of like that they did the interview in character. Without big over the top characters anymore it's easier to be in character for interviews like this and sell that you're actually kind of a jerk in real life. MJF did it and he's on top of the world right now. I think this kind of works as a mix of kayfabe and real life.

Kamala was the name that immediately came to mind. I know he was in the gimmick battle royal but that hardly seems like it should count. If that counts then Michael Hayes is out too.
I'd put Konnan up pretty high in terms of guys who never had a Mania match. He's been around for a long time, was over in WCW, is a God in Mexico, and helps a lot of the Mexican stars.

Yeah its different to the controversy over Hogwarts Legacy (there's a big reason no one in here has made that topic in off-topic) where the actual person who made the series said some really ****ed up stuff and tainted the brand with it. It's not like Adam Copeland has these views and if he does he hides it very well. Dude if I found out Edge had the same views as that woman I'd be so f***ing heartbroken. Really would be the death of my childhood Isn't that AJ Styles in your avatar...

I kind of have the opinion that it's a tv show and the people on it are actors. If Adam Copeland said this or tweeted it or whatever then sure, maybe it's too far and needs to be addressed. But this was Edge, on a tv show. Just like I know that Bryan Cranston isn't actually cooking meth in a trailer, I know Edge probably doesn't condone prison rape.
I get being offended by the joke but let's keep in mind it's a tv show, not real life.
