Why not Martel? He was a former World Champion in the AWA, and had a long career with the company. If he had won the title in 1992 instead of Hart, we may be calling him a legend now.

As far as I'm concerned, Matt Striker's perma-face. He's too good a commentator for me to ever boo him again, even if he somehow warps to 1987 and hits Hulk Hogan with a baseball bat or something

Disco's used a lot of finishers over the years. The Chartbuster, being discussed. The Disco Jawbreaker, which he used in WCW vs nWo Revenge. He used a Swinging Neckbreaker for a while. Then the Macerana Piledriver, and the Villiage People's Elbow, and the Chartbuster again, but called the Last Dance.

Hogan and Bobby Heenan are my favorite candidates so far. Hogan effectively running both of the top 2 wrestling companies for upwards of a year or two is awesome in itself.

Botches are added realism. In a baseball game, players make errors. They even show it on the scoreboard. n wrestling, sometimes they botch moves. It's an athlete making a mistake that plays to his opponent's advantage.
Something stupid like forgetting how to hit the ropes, or selling a move that didn't come close to hitting, that's not what I'm talking about. I'm talking about dropping someone when you go to pick them up, or missing with a headlock, or something like that.

The name change SUCKED at the time, but it wasn't really that big of a deal over time. The timing's just right, that you could spin it into the WWF, WCW, and ECW merging to form the WWE. Imagine telling that to your 1998 selves.
WWE Is a stupid name. It's almost like a punchline to a joke. If it were me, I'd have added the extra W back in, and became the World Wide Wrestling Federation again. Switch back to the historic silver and gold block logo. Keep the attitude.

What if they did it solely to bring in a second world title, in an attempt to copy the WWE?

What if a TNA Contracted wrestler won the NWA World title, and brought it back to the company? Would it outrank the TNA Chanmpionship?

The WWF was at the peak in 1987, around Wrestlemania 3. The product got better for about 2 years after that, but fan interest began waning.
WCW was at their best in 1997. A few arguments could be made for 1989 or 1996, but most would agree with 1997.

I'd love to see Bob come back and win a world title again. He was always one of my favorites. IO never cared as much for the crazy Mr. Bob Backlund as I did for the straight up technical wrestling master Bob Backlund though.

I said I DIDN'T want him to win the title. Read my post again. I do, however, want to see him wrestle if he feels himself capable. I like the old school guys. New guys are fine too, but they don't have the same mystique about them. I'm sure Jay Lethal can wrestle circles around Randy Savage, but which one would I rather watch? Randy Savage. I never did understand the "out with the old" philosophy.

I keep hearing that the WWE has dropped "wrestling" from their name. What does the second stand for now? When did this happen? How did I not notice?
I have noticed that they're, apparently, superstars or sports entertainers now instead of wrestlers. I notice that they almost never say the word on TV. I know about them cancelling a press release about Drew arey because it refered to a Pro Wrestling Hall of Fame. But at no point have I heard of them changing the company name.
Can someone please clarify this for me?

Didn't Flair defend against Bammer in '99 when he was WCW Champion? Maybe not...
If Cena had been on RAW back in the day, they might have had a match or two. Hell, it still might happen. Flair's still going, and may end up back in the E some day, or Cena might show up in TNA.
