I feel like Gresham would be a good choice for winner. Cause then PWG can promote the ROH Champ Gresham against PWG Champ Bandido match we didn't get, and finish up that story.

I'd be totally fine if we just stopped quoting Ric Flair all together.
It's not like he ever says anything worth a shit.

Honestly, I think he's smart to take that sort of money, even without the security benefits.
It's not like Kevin Steen of all people would struggle to get big time work if he were cut down the road. He may as well take as much as he can from them now.

MJF in WWE would most likely stand for Milquetoast Jacob Freeman.

Big E has all the qualities they should want in a top act. They just don't book him like one, and instead use the crutch of giving a belt to try and deflect from that issue.
Kofi doesn't have that. He's serviceable, he's a good hand, he's a guy you can trust to bring it, but he doesn't have innate superstar qualities. He won it at the right time, and he should have won it when he did, but that groundswell was always going to be a fleeting ship without the substance behind it.
The issue isn't who has the belt, it's that the belt belongs to a company that has given up on actually investing in superstars in lieu of the brand.

When no-one's over, you have to protect everyone, which ironically protects no-one.

I'm kind of weirded out by this feud. It feels like Dragon's being set up to win, and that would fee appropriate based on the story. But I also don't think it would be right for Hangman to lose the belt now.
Personally, I'd rather see Dragon take the belt, just cause he's the best. But I'd feel for any Hangman fans feeling shortchanged. I also don't want a screwy bullshit finish, so I don't know what the right solution is.
I guess Danielson can take the loss a lot more easily than Hangman, but still... my beating heart yearns for another Dragon run on top.

Internet buzz. Heard about ROH and TNA around the same time around 2004-2005. ROH was the underground new hotness and TNA was like its dorky cousin who really liked late 90's WCW. To be fair to TNA though, they were a great "dipping your toe into the pool" company for getting into ROH since so many notable names working there eventually ended up doing a stint with them.

From various forums and the like.
I didn't get into watching ROH until 2007, but had been loosely following events in the promotion starting the prior year. Before that I knew that Samoa Joe was this super dominant champion back in 2004, and he was becoming a pretty big deal. I knew a guy names Austin Aries upset him and took his belt. I knew about CM Punk and his whole straight edge schtick. I knew just about everyone who knew talked up Bryan Danielson as the best thing in the ring going. I had a cursory knowledge of the company, but ths actual event that got me interested enough to really follow was Takeshi Morishima beating Homicide for the world title. It just seemed like such a random and exciting turn of events that I wanted in on it.
The first ROH shows I bought on Ebay were 'Joe vs. Kobashi' and 'Better Than Our Best.'
