Thanks in part to Chris Benoit, Jeff Jarrett, DDP, Booker T and Scott Steiner, their ppv main events were almost always excellent.
Benoit vs Sid was pretty good Sid vs Jarrett vs Hall was good DDP vs Jarrett was good Jarrett vs DDP vs Arquette was excellent Jarrett vs Nash wasn't that bad Jarrett vs Booker (times 2) was pretty good Booker vs Nash was better then expected Booker vs Steiner was a darn good match Sid vs Steiner far exceeded expectations
The only stinkers, in my opinion were Flair vs Hogan in the Yappapi Indian Strap Match and Goldberg vs Kronik (which was basically a 4 minute squash match)
Anyhoo, that's my one nice thing to say for the day.

There was nothing good about WCW in 2000. Nothing even remotely good. Nothing that even resembled good. Nothing that even smelled good.

I don't care what anyone says, Slamboree 2000 was a great PPV. Awesome undercard (I loved the Kanyon/Awesome match), and a pretty decent main event.
The only problem I had with 2000 WCW was that it felt like within a year, it went from being a top 2 promotion to being a glorified indy fed (the feel of it any way).

I saw several 2001 episodes online recently, and the in-ring product was actually very good by that point. Problem is, it was too late since no one cared anymore.

Dont feel bad guys, if I would have known how good the actual matches were in 2001 I probably would have watched it too. The problem is after 1999, I kinda gave up on WCW and never looked back. It seems that the WCW loyal fans stuck with them to the very end, but unfortunately for them there just weren't too many people like that.

The three second periods that the Cruiserweights got to be onscreen. That's still 2.5 seconds more than you get today.

Say what you want about WCW in 2000, but by that point if you didn't watch it as a comedy of errors, you would just drive yourself to an aneurysm.
That said, I still watched every week just because you never had ANY idea of what would happen. The World Title could change hands 14 times in one night, Booker T could job to Lash Laroux, Vampiro could change his gimmick to Spiffy The Dog Groomer, it all had an equal chance of actually happening!
But, on the serious side.... if the decision to axe WCW was never made and it lasted at least a few more years.... you just know that would've been the first place guys like Low-Ki, CM Punk, Homicide, Samoa Joe, and the like would've gotten TV exposure. Even though the storylines made less sense than a Japanese commercial, they did a consistantly amazing job finding new talent.

I liked the Shane Helms vs Chavo Jr. feud. That was in what, late 2000 or early 01? Sugar Shane was really coming into his own as a singles star.

WCW 2000 also gave us 19 World Title changes that year. That doesn't incude the multiple times it was also vacated.

I also loved Chavo's serious, lone wolf gimmick he had during his last WCW Cruiserweight Title reign. Apart from 'Pepe', it was the only time I ever really liked him.

Yeah that was a good time for Chavo, he even made being paired with Road Warrior Animal work, sort of.

Benoit wins vacant title Sid wins vacant title Sid wins vacant title Jarrett wins vacant title (anyone seeing a trend here?) DDP beats Jarrett Arquette wins tag match Jarrett beats Arquette Flair beats Jarrett Jarrett is awarded title Nash beats Jarrett Flair is handed title Jarrett beats Flair Booker beats Jarrett Nash beats Booker Booker beats Nash Russo beats Booker Booker wins vacant title Steiner beats Booker So, it's "only" 18. Unless you are counting Chuck Palumbo's 2 minutes with the title. In case you don't remember/care, The Cat reversed the decision b/c the NBT interfered.

But in between Sid's 2 title reigns, Nash awarded himself the belt.
