Didn't Russo get fired? Only to get rehired later? If that happened in 2000, then the part where Russo was fired would be positive in my eyes.

I just take perverse pleasure in anything negative happening to the man.

No matter how bad some of his ideas may have been, I think it's a bit much to take pleasure in something negative happening to someone you don't know, especially in wrestling.

Pants wettingly hilarious! Man, I hope WWE signs SmilAy. If they ever did, it would be a shame that Schivone and Heenan couldn't be on commentary at the same time.

In the post-Russo pre-R & B era from January 2000-the end of March festured probably one of the most f'd up storylines going. Booker and Billy Kidman. For weeks they would wrestle each other on Nitro, team up on Thunder (out of mutual respect) lose, argue, and repeat this process the next week (wrestling, teaming, losing, arguing).

I remember that, that was during the "Booker" phase where he lost the rights to "T" to Ahmed Johnson or "Big T" as he was known as during the very unsuccessful Harlem Heat 2000 duo with Stevie Ray. I think Booker and Kidman got a win over them at one of the PPV's around that time also.

Meh, it's no different than laughing at Virgil for sitting all by himself in an autograph booth. I don't wish any bodily harm on the guy, but I'm always ready and willing to laugh at him whenever he's humiliated.

I wasn't sure what you meant.

WCW 2000 after BATB incident, in my opinion, slowly started getting better and by the end of the year I was really enjoying it. Steiners title run (from what I can remember) was held pretty damn well and was starting to make the belt credible again. The undercard was usually pretty solid and they were building up alot of young guys who would have probably eventually become pretty big if WCW didn't get sold

Didn't Russo get fired? Only to get rehired later? If that happened in 2000, then the part where Russo was fired would be positive in my eyes. Russo wasn't fired in the technical sense. Kevin Sullivan and J.J. Dillon basically made a power play against he and Ferrera on Souled Out weekend. After Bret Hart, the world champ and number one heel in the company, and Jarrett, the U.S. champ, both dropped out of the show due to concussions (and while it wasn't known at the time, Hart would never wrestle again), Russo/Ferrera had to scrap the entire show. They proposed the Tank Abbott thing, and Sullivan/Dillon, who had been angling against them from the start, successfully convinced the guy in charge at the time (forgot his name, but he was an accountant, not a wrestling mind) to strip Russo and Ferrera of their control and institute a booking team. Russo walked away, while Ferrera stuck around (continuing to play Oklahoma. This set off the chain reaction that led to Benoit, Malenko, Saturn, and Guerrero going to the WWF, and gave way to three months of dreadfully boring, dreary shows. That mess definitely wasn't a positive. It was probably the final nail in the coffin in many fans eyes, as interest and momentum was lost after those initial red hot shows of the nWo 2000 storyline. When Bischoff and Russo came back in April, there had already been one too many extreme shifts in direction in the last six months.

They still had some great wrestlers putting on great matches. 3 Count, Jung Dragons, the fun Smiley/Funk hardcore matches, Crowbar/David Flair, Mike Awesome, Sting, Booker T etc. Just that most of the angles were so confusing and stupid that people gave up on it most of the time.
It had started to turn things around in 2001 by hiring Daniels, Styles, Modest and Jason Jett, but it was sadly too late.
