Naivete+(Parents') Exploitable Income=Kids Cynicism+Complete Lack of Exploitable Income=Young Adults
This is why the WWE markets the way it does, although the pandering becomes so blatant sometimes (Hornswoggle) that I just change the channel and see if a movie/TV show I like is still on.

True story. I talked to a 9 year old boy at a Toys R Us who HATES John Cena.
I gave him a high five.
So not ALL kids love John Cena.

I don't think that adult fans are the ogres they're often made out to be, but what's even more true is this:
Kid fans don't ruin anything at all.

Wrestling is, though, for the most part, for the kids. That maybe a true saying nowadays in 2008 where WWE is basically the only show in town but I guarantee that in the 1970s and early to mid 1980s NWA that wrestling was more adult oriented and not as much oriented and geared for the kids. I'm not saying that kids did not like old school NWA wrestling but the WWE with the advent of Hulkamania and gimmick wrestling in the 1980s really started the push for a larger demographic of kids watching wrestling.

Kids are actually the best fans, because they take the wrestling show as a wrestling show, instead of 5 star matches, backstage heat, and all that other stuff.

There are rumors going around that kids have backstage heat within the WWE locker room. No exact reason was given other than they are tired of giving C.M. Punk all of the heat. Credit: Davey Meltzer

One minute they'll have Finlay dancing with Hornswoggle, and the next, Jillian Hall will sweep a Diva's face across her titties.
I just say the target demographic is "people who still watch wrestling."

I see it as the wwe going full circle. When the company first became popular it catered to children. My goodness they even had their own cartoon series. So now they are catering to children again through John cena and hornswaggle though I think that the whole hornswaggle storyline has strayed away from kiddie town lately. Right now is there really any wrestlemania storyline that is geared for the kids?

Sometimes when I go to shows I look around and wonder why I'm there, I see many very low class type of people... Honestly the only time I ever get pissed about being at a show with kids is when they stink. More than 1 time I've had kids either behind me or in front of me that smelled like crapped their pants. It's like good lord you are going out in public take a f***in shower.

I'd say anyone who wishes their wrestlers to stayed the same gimmick that only caters to them rather than the wrestler moving up in the company with a larger fanbase that includes children are selfish. It is the same people that get really angry when an indy star signs with the WWE.
Sorry, but I really need to get this off my chest.

I have a friend who does that.....when Colt Cabana signed with the WWE I thought her life was over, that was how she acted.

Of course they're going to be a little dissapointed if it's changed. I know I'd be if one of my favorite wrestlers became something else if they jumped to a new promotion. Calling it some sort of great outrage would be stepping over the line of reason, as that's just how the business works.

Awesome ****************** chain-wrestling matches wouldn't have sold out Wembley Stadium or Pontiac Silverdome. Actually, an Awesome ****************** chain-wrestling match did sell out Wembley Stadium As for who kids like and don't like, I don't neccessarily think everything being marketed to young children always equates money. The Divas DVDs , calendars and magazines make WWE way more money than some stupid Hornswoggle bowler hat or lunchbox. If you're talking about kids, I think WWE's true bread and butter lays with the kids 10-15. Those are the one's I see wearing all the merchandise. And despite out of touch adults and fogeys-before-their time parents, these kids like a lot of the wrestlers the majority of us like. They don't all like being spoonfed. Guys like Batista are popular because when you cut through the bullshit, the guy's a bad ass. That's the draw. Young teenage guys have and will always dig guy's who kick ass. I know I did. That's why I loved Warrior when I was a kid. Small kids love certain more child-friendly wrestlers like Rey (who draws huge numbers with ALL Latinos regardless) & Hornswoggle, for example, but Horny actually drew sweet f*** all as far as ratings go. He was a colossal financial bomb. He got good reactions, but was completely worthless financially. The character is a failure from every aspect that brings in revenue. That's a fact. So, to say small kids make up for almost all of WWE's money intake is ridiculous. That's young teenagers and adults, who buy much more of a myriad of products that actually make WWE the most money. (DVDS, PPVs, etc.)

Heck no, they make things way funner.
I fell in love with wrestling when I was a little kid, so I see no reason to hate fans who are little kids. i'm sure if I was growing up now I'd mark hard for Batista and Cena, like i did for Sting and Hulk Hogan.
That's the way of pro wrestling. It's just funner because of kids.
Cynical, Sarcastic, Whiny, Critical, Adults/Teens ruin everything. They take the fun out of the product. They take things way too seriously. and everything has to be A CERTAIN Way. with kids they take it as it's presented.
that's why i love watching with my nieces and nephews...heck my cousins and my brother and my friends. We watch it to enjoy it not to critique it.

This is like when people complain about kids on xbox live.. These things are made FOR kids, if anything they should be pissed we can't move on and like something else.

I don't think Xbox is made exclusively for kids. Most of the most popular titles are not even really suitable for children. If we were talking Wii I'd agree.

Well, WWE is definitely primarily for kids. Most of their merchandise is geared towards kids, and making their top faces more kid-friendly assures that they'll want to buy their figures more.
I really don't think the kids "ruin" the WWE, as you get what you pay for. You tune into WWE expecting an entertaining but pretty safe product... they do still toss in the risque stories and characters to keep older fans interesting... but their bread and butter has always seemed to be kids.
