Do kid wrestling fans ruin everything?

Think about it. When a wrestler debuts and then finally breaks the glass ceiling it's entertaining for the older fans no matter who they are. John Cena was entertaining when he was about to establish himself. But when he got insanely over his character changed to a more kid friendly and corny Cena which the little kids loved. Batista used to be a silent badass when he was in Evolution and betrayed Triple H. But now he isnt silent and talks. Yeah, him talking wasnt a good idea, and his character shouldn't. Batista became more kid friendly along with softer entrance music. It's sorta like The Animal was tamed and became more human.... It is my belief that when wrestlers reach their plateau Vince or someone gives them a more women and child friendly character so they'll become merchandise sale generators, and it totally ruins it for us older fans.

Probably, but the WWE primarly caters to these fans anyways, so it really doesn't matter what the older fans think. WWE is a business, not an organization perfecting an art.

they can get more money out of kids, so they cater more to them. for instance, if they catered cena to you or me, they could sell a t-shirt, a baseball cap and a dvd. they sell them to younger fans, they can shift a shirt, some pyjamas, an action figure, christmas tree decorations, the lot.

but i think that may be a good thing. look at the average kid who goes to a wwe show. then look at the average adult. personally, i'm glad wwe pitches to the young marks, rather than bitchy, synical smarks or retarded, xenophobic rednecks. to be honest, westling fans who are also decent human beings are in the minority, IMO.

I went to a Punk signing last month and the vast majority of people who showed up were kids. I don't think he can get any more kid friendly than he is now.

I think they'd get better ratings if they marketed for kids these days than they would if they tried to market for adults. Yeah, they got huge ratings when they were more adult orientated in the late 90s, but a lot of fan favourites from that era are gone now. I just don't see an "edgy" WWE working right now...it would look like a horrible shadow of its former self.

Punk is close to gaining that right now. MVP, on the other hand, may not ever get it, but time will tell.

i dont think they were adult oriented in the late 90s, its the teens that the adult material appeals to more than the actual adults

I'd say overzealous adults that take wrestling overly seriously can ruin wrestling much, much faster then a little kid cheering like sheep for the guys the WWE wants to market.



Even though I hate the Kid Favorites, I realize I'm an old dude taking wrestling much too seriously.

Kids enjoy the show and aren't bitter and jaded, I'd rather have enthusiastic kids than adults who crap on everything.

They also spend most money (or their parents do) which finances the parts I like.

Most importantly they tend to cheer faces and boo heels the way it's supposed to be.

Cena is a Kiddie friendly face but he still puts on some awesome matches when he's allowed.

Back in December (the day after Christmas lol), I was at a house show in Albany where the impossible happened: THE KIDS HELPED MAKE THE SHOW ENTERTAINING!

To explain, I was sitting all the way in the back with my bro, sis, and my sis' boyfriend, and in front of all of us sat 3 kids about 7-13 years of age. Of course they were cheering all the faces and so being the smark I was, I was mainly cheering heels (like Edge on a night like this, the same night where that spat happened between Batista and that fan). I never took myself too seriously so we all talked about what was happening on Smackdown/ECW and how for these kids it made their Friday night (and how when I was a new fan, how it made my Thursday). Noneoftheless, these kids are gonna realize this business will be totally different in their eyes when they get older.

Attending a show surrounded by screaming Cenamaniacs may be a nuisance, but sitting near to a couple of know-it-all smarks who bitch about everything is much worse IMO.

Trust me, kids should be catered. In the FCW show I went to, the kids were booing the hell out of Nattie Neihart, which is a good thing since she is a heel. Now imagine it being adults who take wrestling seriously? The bookers wouldn't like that. It is good for business and it is good for crowd interaction.

Wrestling NEEDS kids. The very reason that I am the die-hard fan that I am now is that they hooked me in as a wee tot, and I now have a much deeper connection to the product than I would have if I had started watching in my teens or adulthood. It's the fact that I became a big fan as a kid that has kept me watching during the less entertaining spells of recent wrestling history. WWE (and the bygone promotions like WCCW, WCW, the AWA, and the old NWA) instilled in me a sort of blind faith in the product as a kid, and as a result, I'm a life-long fan.

I say God bless those kids that are fans, regardless of their opinions, because they more than anything else are what will keep professional wrestling alive and kicking.

I go to shows and I smile when I see kids cheering like mad for Cena, Batista or whoever. I look at them and I see myself 20 years ago cheering for Hogan
