If it gets real bad, they could play an injury angle and have Jericho take him out of the match and get put into the Scramble at Unforgiven.

I think they'll have either JBL, Kane or possibly Batista take Cena out during the Scramble. Jericho is booked to face HBK at the PPV, I believe.

Sucks to be Cena - he should follow doctors' orders, get fully healed up and come back fresh. We thought that was what was going to happen with his pec injury, but he was back too quick to get over his staleness at the time. What does 'staleness' have to do with his health?

Maybe it's just due to my blind love of Punk, the Jericho/HBK feud, and my general indifference towards Cena... but he's not really NEEDED on RAW right now. Take some time off.. do what needs to be done, and hopefully he'll come back and have quite a few more years left in him. Austin would probably still be going today had he taken the proper time off for his neck... but the company wasn't in a position at all to let him do that. Cena isn't very integral to RAW at this point, so it'd be a shame to see him make the injury worse and worse and work his way to early retirement for no good reason. I like Cena a lot, but there are to many babyfaces on Raw right now. Have Kane tombstone him and give him some time off. The amaxing thing is I don't really remember Cena ever having taken a lot of abuse on the neck. As for Austin, I heard he kept going to doctors until he was told what he wanted to hear so I'm not sure any amount of time could have him still going today.

This sucks. Cena has been a machine for the WWE ever since his debut, and has rarely been off screen for a prolonged period of time. He's worked countless main events and gimmick matches and has had to deal with a whole lot of pressure, as well as the negative croud reactions.
If he has any problems he should take time off and adress them, and now is as good a time as ever with him not being champion or in a mega feud.
Have Kane take him out or something, whill will get more heat for physco heel Kane.

If Cena needs to have time off, then it should be given to him immediately.
Hell, even Cena in a non-wrestling role would be great. Like Austin was doing after his neck injury in '97, which made him even more popular than actually wrestling.

It's reasons like this that WWE was completely justified in doing Cena-Batista at Summerslam. You can't book things for Wrestlemania that far ahead because in the modern ages, it seems, countless angles and big matches have had to be derailed due to injury, suspension, whatever. I'm glad we got the great match we got at Summerslam, because if this turns out to be serious and he winds up missing a few months or more, they don't have to use their rematch as a crutch to sell WM (even though Mania sells itself). Because really, if they didn't do the match at Summerslam and Cena wound up getting injured and being unable to do WM, there's absolutely no possible way they could have kept them apart for ANOTHER year. Strike while the iron is hot, I say. It's why WWE missed the boat on so much these past few years. They never struck while act were hot, and kept putting things off.

Hopefully it doesn't turn out like when several of Arn Anderson's fingers became paralyzed.

In the next week or so, if it does turn out Cena will need to take time off, have Batista ambush him during a tag match and lay him out, complete with Cena stretcher job. Cena would come back around Wrestlemania, where he and Batista would have a rematch, which is a match that WWE wanted to do at Mania anyway, according to earlier reports. It would help turn Batista into a mega-heel in the meantime (he's pretty stale as a face), and let Punk take true center stage as the Raw champ.

Cena is at the point of his career that he really doesn't need to always be in the Championship hunt. He can just have his music, come out and he'll get a huge pop whoever he's facing. Let him take some time off if need be. The guy's been an absolute trooper for the company and I'd hate to see him go into retirement before he has the chance to decide that himself.

coming from Cena's biggest mark, i believe that he should have some time off, he isnt really NEEDED in the wwe right now. Now if it were this time last year i would understand, but i think right now he should take some time off so he can return fresh.

I have a feeling Cena will be out of the Unforgiven main event and they'll replace him with Mysterio or something.
He shouldn't be wrestling with any sort of neck issues.

He probably should have taken more time off and waited I guess, in case anything ever came up like this. I guess one will see anyway.

Apparently there is some truth to this as The King just acknowledged it for a sec at the start of Raw...more as it develops

Well, herinated disc in his necks. Out indefinitely with surgery. Good lord! Given that Adamle made the surgery announcement, that may be a work. Not questioning the injury, just the surgery and timetable.
