Now personally I fell asleep during the 1st movie and dont really have any desiree to see the 2nd one
But I was like WTF when I read this on 411mania.
Believe it or not, The Twilight Saga: New Moon set a box office record for biggest single day gross, pulling in $72.7 million on Friday. The previous record was $67.2 million set by The Dark Knight. New Moon has already set the record for midnight openings with $26.27 million.
The next target for New Moon is the 3-day record of $158 million currently held by The Dark Knight....
Really?? Like for serious??

boxofficemojo.com is reporting that New Moon made approx. $140,700,000 this weekend.
It just baffles the mind

That's not really that surprising. I don't expect New Moon's record to last that long either, these records are broken almost annually.

New Moon is going to fall well short of the opening weekend record (boxofficemojo has New Moon about $18 million behind the Dark Knight) and the new Twilight movie won't have the legs the most recent Batman movie did.

I don't personally care for Twilight at all and have no interest whatsoever in it, but meh. They're getting their money and the teeny boppers are having fun. More power to 'em.

Who'd have thought a movie with vampires, werewolves, a pervert/stalker, and a teenage half-naked Native American child molester would be such a huge hit?

New Moon is 3rd for opening weekends behind both The Dark Knight and Spider-Man 3.

Yeah, that's my opinion. I'm indifferent to this movie, how well it performs at the box office, etc. Lots of people are watching it and having a good time, so who am I get upset over that?

Who'd have thought a movie with vampires, werewolves, a pervert/stalker, and a teenage half-naked Native American child molester would be such a huge hit? still not as big of a hit as a movie with a rich playboy who dresses up in tights at night to fight a crazy guy who paints his face and a lawyer with a coin fetish.

My station covered the midnight release of New Moon, and we interviewed people coming out of the theatre. 97 percent of them were girls and all they could talk about was Jacob's abs. Then there was one guy we were trying to interview, but another guy in the background yelled out, "afraid of losing your man card over this?!"

Let people watch what they want to watch. Normally I would agree. But.... Glittery vampires doing a bad emo act, coupled with one of the worse ratings of the year on all the movie review sites? C'mon..... This is more prefabricated than the Jonas Brothers.

Yeah, but that other movie was actually good.

Spiderman 3, Dark Knight & New Moon are pretty much all on the same level as me.

Most of us watch/watched a television show where 1/2 naked oiled up men pretend to fight. And its not very well liked by a lot of the general public.

Most of us watch/watched a television show where 1/2 naked oiled up men pretend to fight. And its not very well liked by a lot of the general public. But its always been marginalized and appeals to a rather small niche. This is a homogenized story to appeal to as large of a group as possible with nothing more than "hunky actors" and a generic actress to let the girls project themselves into. If people like it, knock yourselves out and enjoy. Its just my comment was one part in jest and didn't really think people would get so uptight over it, one part a statement I stand by.
