Well folks, that's it. January 4th, the first battle in the new Monday Night War, is in the books, now, the question is, which show was better?
I personally think in terms of segments, WWE was better. That Bret and HBK segment was wonderfully done, as was the final segment.
Match wise, TNA gets the edge. WWE had two good matches, being Jerishow/DX and Kofi/Orton. I liked the Sheamus/Evan "Blue Ranger" Bourne was good, along with the 4 way but TNA had Styles/Angle, on FREE TV. That match was wonderful. I honestly cannot say enough good things about it.
Also, I liked that TNA felt like it was building towards something. Pope and Wolfe look to be starting a feud, the Nostalgia World Order is runnin' wild (brother) and we still have that masked man attacking AJ. All we really got with WWE was a build with Bret and Vince. We still have no clue what the ME for the Rumble will be and we finally got a blow off for Jerishow/DX.
So, who was better?

Both were good but TNA wins for all the old faces we saw and great Angle match
Raw was priceless at the same time though a Bret ,Shawn hug and Vince Kicking Bret in the balls better than anything on Impact

Impact. It's been a long time since i've been so entertained by a wrestling show, but Impact puts Raw to shame right now

TNA and I can't believe I'm typing that. I thought RAW was going to bring it's A game. It arrived with its B game, with a ringer in the form of Bret Hart.
TNA had shocking returns/debuts. TNA had just as good a main storyline as RAW. TNA had bigger names and better matches. AJ/Angle alone blew any match on RAW out of the water with ease. Quality matches + shock factor + great crowd + idiot fans hilariously dissing WWE + YOUR Pope = Victory. RAW wasn't horrible by any means, but iMPACT! was that much better.

The only time I changed the channel was after Impact ended. Same here. I realize Bret's return is a "big deal" and what transpired on the show is a "big deal" but I really just don't like Bret Hart the person. I give him credit for what he did in the ring, but outside of it...he is not high in my books. This was the first time in a long time I was even vaguely excited for TNA Impact and made an effort to watch it. A live show def adds interest on my end. It makes it must see tv so you don't mis anything. And their show tonight was huge. Eveything made sense. So, from my perspective, TNA fired the first shot and they won the first battle.

Raw but for one night only TNA came with the ammo. It sucks that they won't be able to do this every week because i could use a nostalgia bath every Thursday.

Ugh...Impacts winning? Impact was a clusterf*** of WCW has-beens. Not saying WWE was much better but both shows were not great.

TNA had some shocking debuts/returns and I haven't been that surprised in a long time. Of course there was some less than stellar talents that also showed up. WWE had a surreal segment with Bret and Shawn and one with Bret/Vince which could both be strong contenders for moment of the year and it was the first show of the year!

For me, I'd say it was about even. Both shows had their moments, and had their share of "meh" goin' on.
I was writing off TNA's contributions tonight, but flipping to it while waiting for RAW, it hooked me. Both were on top of things tonight.

I kinda doubt if WWE had those old guys on Raw the same people would've been like "Wow look at all these old guys! This is awesome!" I think tonight just proves that if TNA throws 5 mil at Hornswoggle when his contract expires and he comes out on his first TNA show carrying every TNA title, the reaction is going to be "OMG if TNA's rating is anything other than an infinity sign, we'll know for sure Vince is paying the Nielsen people off!"

Impact for me. The only thing I really caught on Raw was the Michaels/Hart beginning(which was good),the ending of the DX/Jerishow match, bits and pieces of Kofi/Orton,and the Vince/Hart ending. Impact pretty much kept me entertained the whole time.

Even though TNA had a lot of guys we have seen forever, it felt a hell of a lot fresher than Raw did. I'll really be interested to see the ratings when they come out. TNA has some momentum now, and I hope they don't blow it. I get the feeling that they will be a lot closer than we originally thought. Competition is good.

Impact tried too hard and WWE didn't try hard enough.
