TNA is reportedly going through a lot of cost-cutting measures although nothing has been specifically said other than they are happening. Only one person has been let go at this point, ring announcer David Penzer, and it wasn't cost-cutting as much as just him having heat and him claiming he was 'burnt out' as an apparent excuse.
What is known is that those close to TNA president Dixie Carter recommended an extensive list of talent 15 to 20 names to be cut. Thus far, Carter has refused to cut those requested since she doesn't want talent who have been loyal to the organization be unemployed in these uncertain economic times.
Nonetheless, the company has greatly increased its payroll since last year, and most business aspects are either the same or down, with the exception of a huge increase in merchandise sales at live events.

They do have a ridiculously large roster.
I feel that they would be better off trying to restructure the contracts of those they feel they "have" to keep due to loyalty reasons. Or offer them paycuts to stay on board. Also, some people are certainly being overpaid....inform them of such....if they protest then they can leave. If they truly have the 'best interests' of their employer in mind then they will do what's best for the company even if negatively effects them to a degree. I understand you gotta make a living but keeping a job allows you to do that...even if you take a slight paycut.
Also, TNA....don't be dumb and get sued....people like to sue over breach of contract.
But out of that large roster...surely everyone can't be needed or even kept on out of gratitude. Something has to give. Start them on per-appearance deals or something. Don't waste the money bringing them in every week if they won't be used. Or here's an even better idea....use the extra talent on the roster! Come up with something for them to do!
If they hadn't of botched moving to Monday nights, I think they might could of asked for an additional hour of original programming each week from Spike TV and been granted the request. That would allow more time to use the other talent as well.

Seriously, Shark Boy's contract can't be worth THAT much. Send The Band packing instead.

They just hired 15-20 people in the last couple of months. Surely they could just fire all those people and call it a day.

I give Dixie credit for going to the mat for her people, but there is a lot of fat that could be cut from the company. Sadly, none of it would be from those that actually are fat.

Cut Joe. He counts as five wrestlers anyway.
Because he's fat, you see.

Cut Joe. He counts as five wrestlers anyway. Because he's fat, you see. And then cut Tomko because he counts for another 10 wrestlers.

Anyway, my 15:
1. TOMKO 2. Rhino (I like him but they haven't done anything with him in ages) 3. Jesse Neal 4. Shannon Moore 5. Brother Ray 6. Brother D-Von 7. Hulk Hogan-just ain't worth it ratings-wise 8. Jeff Hardy-PR disaster waiting to happen, even though I like him 9. OJ 10. Homicide-the dude wants out, and TNA is dead set on turning him into a jobber anyway 11. Dr. Stevie 12. Christy Hemme-most highly paid female is a BACKSTAGE INTERVIEWER!?! Hello? 13. Ric Flair-a true legend or wrestling but the dude seems so pathetic and old, its like watching an unpleasant caricature 14. Taz-deserves special mention for his atrocious TNA announcing. Dude makes Don West (even the face version!) look good. 15. Kurt Angle-my most controversial decision of all, but Kurt was the original hugely expensive hire who couldn't back it up in terms of drawing power
Who I expect: 1. SHARK BOY 2. Amazing Red 3. Kiyoshi 4. ODB 5. Rhino 6. Sarita 7. Hamada 8. ODB 9. Taylor Wilde (noticing a pattern anyone?) 10. Samoa Joe (controversial but I fully expect him to get canned soon) 11. Hulk Hogan (he won't be cut now...but I find it unlikely TNA will resign him when his contract expires in December) 12. Daffney (jobbier than alot of the female talent who actually left and not excatly integral to the company's success, even when the KO's were booked better) 13. Dr. Stevie 14. Tomko-unlikely while Hogan is still there, but will happen eventually 15. Homicide

If TNA releases Hogan, they would probably have enough money hire 15-20 people.

Ya know what, I fully agree with you. I had to think a minute about Jesse Neal, but he really doesn't offer that much to TNA IMO.
