they're not going to acknowledge he was Albert, because they'd prefer his A-Train name/gimmick

No, because they'll eventually acknowledge his past. It was already on wwe.com and the guy had a freaking WrestleMania match with 'Taker.

Did the chants Isaac Yankem in Unforgiven 2001 ruin Kane?

The claw thing looks too much like Brodus's old STO thing. I think he should start using the Derailer again, looks brutal and like it could KO someone.

I like moves out of that position and think it's far more adaptable than anyone uses it as, but backbreakers are not normally knockouts.

I just don't understand the point of the chants. Do the crowds think they know something that the rest of us don't?

I love the guy and the whole Over the top get-up is fun for a bit, but it really doesn't fit that well. He should definitly keep the improved in japan, adopted the haritage and came back to dominate, but maybe with more his Giant Bernard look.

I love Tensai but, I'm not a fan at all of the "Introduce a guy by having him squash jobbers" method. I always find it boring and it's always a sign that WWE has no idea what to do with them.
Tensai should have debuted as a surprise opponent for someone like Punk, had a good 10-15 minute match with him to get him over and establish him as a threat straight away.

I don't think the gimmick is going to work. They should have just brought him back under a slightly different name, and just done it as "A-Train is back, and now he's good". Probably would have gotten more life out of it that way, and if it doesn't work you still have a good midcard monster. If this flops it's gonna flop all the way.

I just don't understand the point of the chants. Do the crowds think they know something that the rest of us don't? Thats what I was thinking. At least with Mark Henry the "Sexual Chocolate" chants were embarrassing. "Albert" isn't embarrassing, he was a respectable enough Midcarder. I don't get what chanting that is supposed to achieve. I think it's possible they'll just add Albert to his name: Lord Albert Tensai.

And also, this should have been said at the beginning of the thread, but I swear to god, I will brain the next person that says "pretending to be Japanese". He's not, and they've said so a billion times. Stop. He's pretending to be Japanese. They're employing like at least ten signifiers of "Japanese" with his gimmick, look, tron, etc. If you just turned it on and were five years old you'd think he was a japanese guy. So the problem is five year olds are going to crap all over it because they just tuned in and the gimmick says Japanese but they recognize its Albert the guy with piercings on his dick from nearly a decade ago? I honestly dont understand how they could make it any more clearer that he isnt pretending to be Japanese, they mentioned it like 20 times on both matches, they mention on air he is a former american superstar that embraced and dominated over the Japan scene, they acknowledge him as Albert on WWE.com and the reason they havent mentioned his name on the air is cause they likely feel its confusing for the people new to him and doesnt need to be said to those who arent... Either you know who Albert is and dont need to be told his name when they say "former superstar" to know its Albert or you dont know who Albert is and dont need to be confused and overwhelmed with unnecessary backstory and being told "Thats the superstar formerly known as A Train, but originally known as Albert", They are not presenting him as someone else at all, he just goes by a new name now so its confusing to mention past names to people that cant even grasp the fact the guy is not Japanese if he dresses as such, regardless of the fact they are being told he isnt on commentary.

I just don't understand the point of the chants. Do the crowds think they know something that the rest of us don't? I think that's part of it, I think for other people it's just a Nelson Muntz-style "Ha ha, you used to be Albert." Some people are saying that they HAVE acknowledged on TV that he is Albert, but imho they did it in a mealy-mouthed way. "From what I understand, he's a former WWE Superstar who went to wrestle in Japan..." Okay, but when he took his mask off, why not say "oh, it's Albert!" They obviously want to play down his time as Albert and A-Train, so crowds are having a little fun at their expense. (For the record, I don't find it funny.) The best thing they could do is have Tensai interviewed backstage next week and have him explain his change from A-Train to Lord Tensai. Having him address it would put an end to these Albert chants, because the people who do it wouldn't feel so smart/rebellious/funny anymore. Also, I think working it into the gimmick ("Don't call me Albert!") as someone suggested is a terrible idea and would kill the character completely.

I don't see why they don't just flat out say it's Albert/A-Train.
It's not like the guy was a joke during his first run. He was a decent mid-carder and held the IC title.

Whether they say he's Albert or not, why not have him come back looking like a normal guy? They went way too overboard with the Asian stuff. I hope I'm not the only one who thinks the name Lord Tensai sounds a touch Japanese. They decided his character should be Captain Weeaboo, and I think that it's pretty obnoxious.

They should just give him some mic time next week and have him declare that he once was Albert/A-Train, but he went to Japan and developed into the wrestler he is now yada yada yada.
Or even better, have some midcard face, say Kofi Kingston, come out and call him out on it. Tensai acknowledges it and proceeds to kick their ass.
Basically they need to give him time to explain himself sooner rather than later. Just having random squashes week after week with only Lawler and Cole to explain his gimmick helps nobody.

The whole storyline revolving around the squash last night was basically that he was pretending to be Japanese. Maybe not 100%, but most of the way there.
