His aura would be long gone if they show footage of his gimmicks as a personal piercing/tattoo artist named after genital piercing or the dreaded backhair gimmick. He has had too many unintentionally homoerotic/leather looks to show if you want, silent Gaijin killer bought into Japanese culture as his new persona.

They chanted "Albert" this week.
Next week they'll chant "Borrrrring."
He won't be on Raw the week after that.

It shouldn't as long as his matches stop dragging so much.

What's the point of his manager, come to think of it? He doesn't coach him around or anything, he doesn't cheat for him (at least, not yet), he doesn't seem to be a mouthpiece and even if he was A-Train's fine on the mic as it is, and he really adds nothing to his aura or anything.

I like Lord Tensai but I think he should change up his move set. Alot of his moves a basically finishers. The Under hook suplex thing, the back splash, the splash in the corner, the sitting choke bomb, The claw, the claw drop. it's just finisher after finisher . BTW, I like the idea of flat out announcing he was Albert then having a story about how he's a changed man. But because it's WWE that'll probably mean they'll give him Multiple personality disorder or something It surprises me someone is saying the double underhook should be a finish. Not in a bad way though, since I like the move

Like the sign at Raw, "Brock Lesnar and A-Train return..... awkward."
After all, you've got a human killing machine in Brock Lesnar, who is every bit the legit monster heel. And then you've got Albert in a bath robe. Who did WWE think people were going to care about?
It's maybe too early to tell, but I'm calling it now - Lord Tensai will be a complete failure.

As hilarious as the Japanese jokes in this thread have gotten, I still just can't get over how WEIRD people are about this whole thing. When Kofi Kingston was EXPLICITLY announced as being from a different country than he actually is, there wasn't this eye-rolling uproar about COME ON WHY IS HE PRETENDING TO BE JAMAICAN? There's this whole weird vibe of racial/cultural purity embedded in all this... like it's more unacceptable and intelligence-insulting for a white guy to be immersed in Japanese culture (even though in real life he's lived in Japan for years) than it is a black guy from one country full of black people to act like he's from another country full of black people. I don't want to start any controversy in the thread, but there is a race aspect to that. Jamaican to Ghanaian isn't that bit a leap, lots of people have claimed to be from different countries, but when you play something from a different race there's an aspect lots of people feel uncomfortable with. There's a difference between Fritz von Erich being a Naiz, and Roddy Piper half blacking up. Though as has been pointed a lot, they're making sure they mention he's not Japanese a hell of a lot.

Two things First is a wrestling post as constructed by david lynch which is spoilered for your convience because alot of you wont like it and made out of boredom. They've done all they can to associate tensai with the classic image of the foreign menace heel from the japanese symbols painted on the face to the music to the entrance gear. He's supposed to very specifically remind people of the cartoonish image of japanese villainy. They can try to dress it up by mentioning that he's a white guy on commentary but that message will continue to fall flat when they try to tie him to sterotypical aspects of japanese culture. He's essentially playing a japanese heel. There's kinda no way around that. The commentary can say that hes a white guy but his performance and presentation is the same performance and presentation that would be typically given to a sterotypical japanese heel. I think it's doomed for that reason and that it's just absurd. It's like white rapper john cena,an obnoxious appropiation of another culture to the point where it's near parody. You also just cant ask the audience to go with a new character thats supposed to be so drastically different when he had a match at wrestlemania with the undertaker and was a(very very very)small part of one of the biggest eras in wrestling history. At the end of the day,I hope that they just find something that works for him. He's a talented guy and could probably be an asset in the right role. I just don't think that kwang albert is the right role. Especially in 2012. There's nothing to ruin about that gimmick because it was ruined in just its conception.

The whole storyline revolving around the squash last night was basically that he was pretending to be Japanese. Maybe not 100%, but most of the way there. Despite them REPEATING over and over that "he's not Japanese"? What's your point here? He's not Japanese. He's an American pretending to be Japanese.

A-Train or not, it's still a generic ethnic heel gimmick in 2012. It's pretty much bound to flop either way. The real question is whether he can recover when it does.

I can't help but notcie he has mobility issues. When he hits some moves that require him to go to the ground especially the baldo bomb, he struggles to get up. It was really noticeable during his debut match. It looks bad. He could shed a about 15-30 pounds and work on his flexibility. I'm still a fan of the whole gimmick but as time passes my interest is fading.
Does he crack open a water package in his mouth before spitting mist into his hand? I'd like to see some color added to that.
However, I do not see this gimmick lasting...

He does not believe he is a Japanese person. He is not trying to convince anyone he is a Japanese person. He is an American who has adapted himself to Japanese culture. THere is no pretending. It's like an immigrant assimilating to a new culture

So we have a 5 page thread trying to fix a character, with a large section of the responses saying he's finished, when he's had 10 minutes of TV time. Hasn't even had a feud.
There's a reason at your job you don't have a performance review before you get your desk situated. Give it some time. We don't even know what the character is supposed to be yet...
...Except obviously a very white Japanese guy clearly from Japan and was born and raised in Japan and loves his Japanese heritage.
