I didn't like the promo either, but if a person thinks that promo elicited mixed reactions in the arena they're kidding themselves.

Cena wants the guys who'd run things right in charge. He's not anti-authority, he's pro proper authority. I know that is the kayfabe storyline. But in reality, Laurinaitis is the "right guy" for his position as Executive Vice President of talent relations. He was introduced to us in a shoot promo by CM Punk who mentioned Cena as an asskisser of Vince McMahon and Laurinaitis as his yes man. I guess everyone already forgot about that by now though. If you are going to introduce him in this worked shoot style, at least try to maintain some of that as time goes on. It's the same thing when Cena would go after Vince. It just rang so hollow because we all know the reality is that Cena is dedicated to Vince and his company above everything in his life. And this side of Cena was brought to light even further in his work this whole past year with The Rock. He was all about the company and "loyalty" to it. I just can't suspend my disbelief with this storyline. This should have been Punk's feud. no Laurinaitus is not the right guy. It's not a matter of .... line of succession or anything, it's a matter of running the business right. A soon as Johnny showed himself willing to reenact the Montreal Screwjob he showed he was the wrong guy

I'd rather watch ten Seltzerberg movies in a row than watch Cena's stupid-ass shtick ever again.

Cena was playing to the crowd. He wasn't trying to impress the IWC or smarks watching from home. It's that simple.. They were actually playing to the IWC, if the big news of his divorce didn't hit we would had a more traditional go-home segment for a PPV rather than a over the top happy Cena doing bad out dated comedy again.

*sigh* Unlike other horrible segments I read about and watched to see for myself, I'm really not ready to subject myself to this. And the answer to the following question might decide it one way or the other: during Cena's alleged jokes, like "Go puck yourself", were Cole and/or Lawler laughing like jackasses?

If Cena is super serious in that promo, he's upset about his upcoming divorce and it's effecting his work. If he's lighthearted, he's upset about his divorce and hiding his pain through humor. Ever since the news of him getting divorce got made public, everyone been micro-analyzing all his action more so than usual. Cena can't eat a hamburger without someone giving an analyse on his psyche.

Poor WWE, they want him as a rapping heel and people cheer, they want people to cheer Cena they boo, Piper wants a mixed reaction they cheer, they want him to get booed more and people cheer.
I can just imagine Vince screaming "dammit" backstage.
Although as it's against Johnny I'd be amazed if they wanted anything other than cheers.

I heard no booing. Hell, they even faded out Raw on some "Cena" chants. Same here....

I hated that promo...
I love Cena when he's serious and passionate like in the build up to the Brock match or, even when his jokes and insults are actually funny but this just sucked.

Between Punk's promo where he said that nobody likes Lauranaitis and this Cena promo where he called Johnny a loser like an elementary school bully, I was wondering what the Be A Star campaign thought of our top babyfaces' actions.

The way he chews it an odd number of times and adds extra ketchup after receiving it obviously indicates emotional distress over his divorce. Blind Freddy could see that.

I think what they are trying to do is make Ace such an incredibly hated heel that Cena looks like the best face on Earth. Honestly I hated this promo. Cena calling Ace a loser over and over reminded me to Be A ☆. :l

and also I am ashamed of my hometown for not booing the s*** out of that horrible segment. NIce elitism. You thought it sucked so therefore nobody is allowed to enjoy it. People have the right to their opinion. Don't insult them. Todd Martin, the Raw reporter on the Observer/F4W site, claimed it was an indictment of those fans to be laughing and cheering. "Elitism" doesn't even begin to cover it.

There's no way they specifically designed that promo in order to get Cena a mixed reaction. WWE was trying absolutely everything they could months ago to get a fifty-fifty reaction at Wrestlemania for Cena when he went up against Rock; they had him beat Brock Lesnar in his very first match back, likely in hopes that they could somehow make the fans see him as more of a badass in the process. Why would they throw that all away? If anything I guarantee that they wrote that promo specifically because they thought that it was a good babyface promo, or at least Vince thought so. Tonight's promo was everything I hate about Cena rolled up into one appalling package: no selling; treating everything like it's a farce; telling awful joke after awful joke. Every single word he said made me want to reach into the television and sock him in the face just so he would stop acting an moronic man-child. In fact I actually was glad when Johnny smacked him across the face because it meant he actually shut up. It's amazing that they can do a segment like the Big Show one earlier and then on the very same show one hour pretty much undo everything that they intended with that go-home segment. I said the same thing to my friend I was watching with. I've no issue with Cena being the face of the company and even being unbeatable and such, but his promos like this are just so cringe worthy they make me want to turn off. They make me feel old for not finding them funny or whatever. Dont do that to me WWE!

All his promo did wa push me on Laurenitis' side. I mean, the whole interrupt his talking with "loser" really shows that he's working to his fan base. Little kids. Nothing about Cena was likable in that promo. I'm not a Cena fan, but I can at least smile and enjoy him sometimes. This was horrible and dumb.
Plus I fail to see how fair it is for Johnny Ace to be fired for the loss at OTL when there's no precedent for it.

I thought it was funny how much fan support he got.
It was the right time. He'd been SRS for the Lesnar thing, and parts of the Rock thing and people probably just wanted to see him have some fun again.

Plus I fail to see how fair it is for Johnny Ace to be fired for the loss at OTL when there's no precedent for it. Right because it's not like he reduced a grown man to tear and then fired him for simply making fun of his voice, it's not like he hired a psychopath MMA fighter and completely caved in to his demands (the same guy also broke the COOs arm), it's not like he is clearly bias toward certain guys and absolutely sucks at his job in every possibly way. No precedent for getting fired at all.
