Vince:"Okay, here's what we are going to do. Give the Heavyweight title to Punk, the the WWE title to Ryder, and the US title to Bryan. Then if ratings don't go up we switch again. And if that doesn't work we put them all on Triple H. At the same time."

Maybe WWE should have its announcers put the champion over, rather than calling him a goofball?

The ratings have been dipping since they dropped the Cena/Punk angle. I've said this before, but Punk can't draw ratings without a strong opponent to help. It's why Shawn Michaels never drew as champion in the 90's, despite being really talented and really over.

I actually think this has more to do with the holiday season (and maybe ADR being a total non-factor at this point) than anything CM Punk's done as champion, because the guy's hella talented, but I do have to note that when it was Randy Orton who was losing ratings, he was called "ratings poision" and people said he should drop the belt immediately, but I digress.
That being said, it would be easier for them to find another heel to face Punk than it would for them to try and put the title on another face (the only other faces as over as Punk are either on Smackdown, currently in feuds, or holding a title already). Or, if they can hold off two more weeks and put him in a feud with Jericho. Long story short, if in the rare case they actually do hit the panic button, I'm sure they won't do it before Royal Rumble.

Who should he face at the Rumble though? I was thinking Miz but Miz just lost to Sheamus tonight so I'm not sure if that is the best way to go. I'm not sure who else there is though besides maybe Dolph who has been in the midcard for a long time now.

People have different standards (rightly or wrongly) for CM Punk as they do for John Cena and Triple H. I can't begin to get all indignant over that... It's the same reason nobody really got mad about Jerry Lawler calling Otunga and McGillicutty boring. Most of the response was "Well they are boring." Same thing with Del Rio and Miz. A lot of people have the same opinion of them that the CM Punk character seems to. I dunno it's this strange booking philosophy WWE seems to have these days where instead of hiding a performers weaknesses they shine a glaring spotlight on them. I dunno why they do that because it doesn't help anyone. Though I do contest the notion that a guy who rips his opponents apart and basically buries them on the mic doesn't draw. Exhibit A:

This isn't legit so why are we even talking about it? Only thing I know for sure that was discussed on WO was the ratings drop being compared to 1997 Raw. The other stuff is sensationalist fluff designed to get web hits on the c&p sites.

I'm just hoping for no Miz/Del Rio. Maybe a babyface match with Kofi or something.

The other stuff is sensationalist fluff designed to get web hits on the c&p sites. Some sites will exaggerate what Meltzer says and say it is fact when he is really just speculating. They need to assume he is speculating most of the time beause he isn't going to hold their hand and tell them when he is in audio shows. He said all kinds of stuff about the WWE Network a couple weeks ago about how they aren't ready at all for it when it comes to advertising and stuff like that. I monitor a lot of wrestling sites and honestly Lords Of Pain and Wrestleview and Gerweck are just as good if not better than PWInsider and PWTorch. People don't realize that LOP, Wrestleview, and Gerweck have been online longer than a lot of these other sites including PWInsider and PWTorch. I have seen PWInsider and PWTorch copy stuff from other sites on multiple occasions because I usually see who posts stuff up first so I can get it on my blog before the others. About maybe 10 percent of the stuff now comes from F4W/Observer and the rest of it is either stuff from twitter or just regular press releases from WWE or other wrestling groups that's encouraged to get passed around on multiple sites. I don't mind PWInsider but people need to stop worshiping it and thinking it is completely legit. I wouldn't even sign up for their paid thing because most of it is just stuff from The Observer and their speculation on certain stories.

They really do need to stop making all of their heels look so weak. Honestly I can't even think of a heel that has looked consistently strong recently. The closest would be Mark Henry, I suppose, but even he's been dialed back considerably as compared to when they first gave him this recent push.
I'm not counting Kane since the guy has only been back for two weeks.
Honestly whenever I hear most heels come out on television they very rarely get any heat whatsoever. Maybe once they start cutting promos, but upon that first entrance not so much.

Mark Henry was OK when he was randomly destroying people. He's completely useless with this "oh my foot is hurt" angle. He should be a near invincible monster.

The bigger overall problem is that WWE just hasn't built up enough guys. Macintyre should either be at the top midcard level or main event. They dropped the ball on him. The problem is that they don't know how to build guys up. They had the same problem in the mid 90s when they couldn't even keep Vader in the main event.

Agree. They had an opportunity with truth, built him up for a while against SuperCena, had him lose , then forgot about him for a couple of months, before they lucked into AwesomeTruth.
WWE either rushes them up the ladder to fast, i.e. ADR and Miz, or pulls the rug from underneath them, like R-Truth.

I should say that this really seems to apply to Raw, since Smackdown actually seems to know what they are doing. Mark Henry as a monster heel, building D-Bry as face, even Cody Rhodes and Ziggler, while possibly in douche heel mode, have had there characters developed.

Ziggler is technically a Raw guy though right?

Since they've all but officially killed the idea of separate show/separate stars, I really can't tell. It just seems like Ziggler has been on Smackdown more than Raw.
