Update from PWInsider:
AJ STYLES-TNA UPDATE by Dave Scherer @ 8:51 AM on 8/30/2013
The word making the rounds over the past week was that AJ Styles and TNA had agreed to, at least, a short term contract extension. Styles' contract was set to expire very shortly and both sides were said to be working on a compromise that would keep him with the company.
No one would comment officially as to whether Styles had agreed to a short term or long term team deal but it's clear after the events that took place at Impact last night that he will be with the company for at least the short term.
I personally hope it's for the long-term.
Later follow up: As Dave noted this morning on the site, TNA and AJ Styles have agreed to a short term contract extension. One source told me this morning it's a deal that will take the two sides a little past Bound for Glory. They will continue negotiations for a longer deal, but as Dave has written, it's going to be money that tells the tale of whether Styles stays or not.

After last night, any potential WWE offer is off the table. I wonder if key people from WWE were watching, or if they will watch it. If so, yeah they're probably going to be disappointed. Of course, WWE might not even have Styles on their radar and he's just trying to up his value by bringing them into the conversation.

People in TNA does that all the time when contract negotiations are in progress. Taz tried it even when word that WWE was no way considering hiring him back. Some WWE folks try that with by saying they would go to TNA unless certain demands are met but WWE give them the deuce & send them on their merry little way.

I stand by my assertion that the E had no interest in AJ, he's a good wrestler but that's it.

Personally I would say AJ has gone as far as he can in TNA. Which is a pity, because I also think he could have been the company standard bearer and he and Christopher Daniels could have been a second coming of Flair and Steamboat.

From today's Wrestling Observer news update by Bryan Alvarez:
-- AJ Styles signed a three-month contract extension. The promo on Impact was something he came up with and wrote to explain his character change over the past year, and not something that TNA had any input into. We got reports from the building that the crowd turning on him was worse live than it sounded on TV.
-- Should note a pretty famous wrestler contacted me today about the promo and said they were friends with AJ Styles and had no idea his real name was Allen Jones.

If I were TNA, if Styles does not sign a long-term deal by the next live Impact, I'd have Aries win the BFG Series and play it by day with AJ. I mean, I'd imagine winning the title at BFG would be incentive for AJ to sign long-term, but if his current extension is only through BFG, there doesn't appear to be a guarantee or promise in place.

In theory he could go back to his WCW name of Air Styles... I don't know by he would want to... But he could. He wasn't called Air Styles in WCW, he was AJ Styles. He teamed with Air Paris and they were called Air Raid.

Holy shit, he wrote that promo himself?! ...Yeah, some wrestlers just shouldn't have creative control.

It was an awful promo. Babbling, meandering, stumbling over his words. It's hard to do an intense promo when you sound like Lindsay Graham.

I would say that he'd just get lost in the shuffle in WWE, but the current top angle in the company features the former Bryan Danielson, Jon Moxley, and Tyler Black. Maybe they'd actually use the guy.

If WWE signed him, he should go straight into the main feud and join DB (and eventually CM Punk) against the Corporation. They could explain it by saying that Punk and DB needed help, so they called for top quality reinforcement.

Except there are plenty of better guys they could put in that situation AJ isn't on punk or Bryan's level
