Like some others have said, I am honestly shocked he wants anything to do with the wrestling business. If I were in his position, I'd distance myself as far away as humanly possible. Jericho said in his book that his dad and wrestling were the two most important things in David's life and during the first conversation that Jericho had with David after the deaths the only thing he said was "Does this mean I can't come to the wrestling anymore?" If David wouldn't be able to achieve anything due to his father's name, that is bullshit. It wasn't his fault, don't punish him. I'm hoping that people would show enough decency to the kid to not drag all the history up. I don't want to say this the wrong way and I hope this doesn't sound harsh. But when your father has died and your talking to one of his closest friends for the first time after the last thing I would be thinking of is my passion. I am extremely passionate about wrestling, movies and tv (and convey such most of the time if it gets brought up) but if my father died and I was talking to one of his closest friends I wouldn't make my intentions so clear so early after. There are many ways of looking at it, but it was just one of the first things I thought when I read your post. From all I have seen and heard of him he seems like a nice guy and has come to terms with everything despite the tragedy, I do hope he is successful with this passion whatever way possible (considering the circumstances and stigma that is unfortunately attached to him) if he does continue training.

The sins of the father...
His dad was awesome, but the name is severely tainted. It would be very brave of him to keep the 'Benoit' name, though WWE would NEVER allow him to use that name if they'd even sign him in the first place.

It's WWE. Bo Dallas and Bray Wyatt are brothers. And their dad is IRS. Call him Ben Christopher.

How old is he and how far is he into training? It could be years before he's good enough to wrestle. By then, the murders may be less of an issue ( not a completely non issue; just less).

Will never be in WWE. A shame, because it's not his fault in any way, but it just won't happen.

I think it was more he had just had his family ripped away from him and was scared of losing the other part of his life.. Bear in mind again, he'd just lost his family in the most horrific of ways. Who the hell knows his thought pattern at that point?

If he turned out to be any good, WWE could just give him a different name and fresh finisher and there wouldn't be any issues.

Sadly WWE wont sign him and TNA would probably just do something stupid like give him the Rellik gimmick {Spoiler}{(Spoiler)}thats Killer spelled backwards or they would put him in a mask but end up giving hm the Suicide gimmick

Its not like the WWE would have him use his real name even if Benoit DIDNT do what he did. He'd have some name like Mordecai Gatsby or something like that.

He doesn't seem far off in height from the 6'5 Harry Smith, so right off the bat he's got the advantage of being taller than his father. Plus you figure he is close with greats like Jericho, Hart, Malenko, etc, who would take an interest in helping him be as good as possible.
But his last name, even if they change it, will always be a complicated issue.

Well if the name is going to be an issue, no problem you market him as Eddie Guerrero's long lost adopted son, easy fix.

We can say he's the son of Hardcore Holly and have him feud with Cody Rhodes for disrespecting his father's legacy by stealing all his moves.

I'm sure he did a lot of thinking before deciding to train. I wish him the best of luck....but his only real shot is doing everything in his power to make sure no one knows who he is and wear a mask.

I don't get why he want to but if he really wants to do it, he should be able to. It's not like he did what his dad did. Although, as others have brought up, what major promotion would hire him?
