Defiantly one of the best of his career. The one thing that makes Cena really great is him calling an audible whenever there is a unexpected crowd reaction. It's like if he knew the crowd was going to act that way and pre planned it

Cena took a crowd that couldn't give a f*** about him or Orton or their match and hijacked Daniel Bryan's heat to put the spotlight back on Cena. That is amazing. Being able to play the crowd like a fiddle like that even (especially) when they don't want to play along is why he's been on top for so long.

My favorite Cena promo ever. He got the crowd to cheer everything he said moments after they wanted his head on a pole. Sure, he pandered, but once he brought up Bryan's effort and acknowledged respect, they loved the guy.

Two times I've had 0% interest in this match and two times Cena has brought me back with promos. He is giving everything he has to make this interesting.

That's why Cena is "The Guy". He doesn't always hit, but when he does hit, it's freaking magic.

Cena once again shows the ability to work a crowd into getting pump up. I'm kinda glad Cena's saves these type of promos for big occasions since it makes them feel even more special when he pulls one out.

That was straight up masterful. Orton saw the crowd wasn't reacting the way he wanted and he just pouted. Cena took that crowd's energy and used it to emphasize the point he was trying to make. Like night and day.
Forget about HHH. Cena is the real Cerebral Assassin. He played that crowd like a fiddle.

Know Wheel of Time, how they go on about how Aes Sedai always appear like nothing can shock them?
John Cena is that. Times 100. Jesus. Nothing can shake the man, the man is an alchemist. He took the shit the crowd was throwing at him, turned it into gold and then shaped it into a throne for Bryan.

Nikki probably had the backstage area looking like a slip and slide watching her man take control like that.

I loved it until he took credit for the success of Daniel Bryan, CM Punk, and Dolph Ziggler.

Also, as if nothing has been 'handed' to Cena?

I don't care if it was pandering, because he handled that crowd correctly. Instead of ignore what was going on, and "continuing business", he took what Seattle was wanting, used it to make a point and got right back to why he was there. For all the shit he rightfully gets for phoning it in sometimes with his promos, when Cena IS on, he's easily one of the best promo guys I have ever seen. I don't think anything else could have saved that segment, and Cena certainly did. But Mark Henry helped.

I may not always be the biggest fan of Cena, but he can damn sure work the crowd however he wants them to react. He got a crowd that didn't give a shit about him and Orton, and got them on his side. Major props to him for that.

I've said my favorite matches involving Cena is when he loses. Not because I like seeing him lose, but because I find that he seems more motivated in those matches (RVD at ONS, Punk at MitB, Bryan at SS off the top of my head) to make that moment seem meaningful.
His promo work is no different. When he's motivated, he's on another level. Only Punk can be compared on the mic for his ability to convey the right tone and utilize the crowd to convey his message effortlessly.
I know he gets a lot of grief around here, but he's where he's at for a very good reason and deservedly so. My criticisms regarding Cena has always been with the company books him. He's got the it factor and anyone who doesn't see it, I'm sorry, is just wrong. He is this generation's Hogan.

I though were worthy of the end but Cena's was just in a whole different universe than Orton's.

I loved it until he took credit for the success of Daniel Bryan, CM Punk, and Dolph Ziggler. I wont speak for Ziggler but Daniel Bryan and CM Punk WERE successful at least in part of Cena's efforts. He was the guy that busted his ass to put them over in classic matches.

I was called crazy when I mentioned this to a friend but Cena will be a talent that is greatly appreciated in hindsight. This promo was a great example of the shit we will look back on.

He gets far more praise than grief around here. People may hate the way he's booked, but he's not underrated by any means.
