Korn... man did any of y'all have that ONE buddy who thought after listening to Follow the Leader he'd be a guitar player and just strummed horrible in Drop D tune because that was the "realest" tuning? Nope, but a lot of guys wanted that 7 string with the low B. To be honest, I thought Korn did it well, for the time. The imitators ruined it, though. I liked Korn well past their popularity surge. Still like a ton of it, Somebody Someone, Alone I Break, and Thoughtless as my benchmarks. Just not much to say about them though, they're like AC DC or Nirvana or whoever else that was at the "top" of their genres popularity. I mean cool and all but really there's nothing for me to say that hasn't been said. The smaller acts are always so much more interesting to learn about because someone is bound to bring some new shit to the table for ya.

I disagree, I think Korn don't get nearly any credit for what they did. Look at the first half of this thread, where it was mostly hate, there was much more talk about Limp friggin Bizkit than Korn, who I felt truly spearheaded the genre and where far superior to just about every other band that followed them.

(closer to the Orgy sound than the rap-rock)

Y'know what? Screw this, let's start a nu metal band and bring this shit back! My parents are pissing me off, and I'm depressed, let's make it happen! It'll only work if we write songs using shit we wrote in high school.

The lead singer of this band was the original drummer for System of a Down.

Some of these songs I haven't listened to in many years, but digging them up and posting them and listening to them now, I still know all of the words.

I usually hated these guys, but I always dug this. Industrial, not Nu-Metal

And just to bring it all down... The summer after my first year of high school. In the grips of a post 9/11 world where it felt stupid to hate my parents, and suddenly I cared more about cute girls and getting laid, I heard a song. And then everything changed and what we all just talked about suddenly seemed so very silly...

I totally have to give it up to bands like Deftones and Incubus for always doing their own thing when it would have been so easy to do things the easy, safe way. Both bands didn't feel confined to the "nu-metal" label and were always willing to experiment with their sound and do things they're own. White Pony and Morning View being shining examples of that. That's why I'm still a big fan of both band to this day.

Always been a sucker for SugarComa, they were one of the first few bands I saw live.
