I think the original Sonic games (1, 2, 3, & Knuckles) were all great. I was never a big fan of the 3D games, but I don't have anything against them.
I have played Sonic 06, and what killed it for me more than any of its other problems was the constant load times. I never really experienced any big glitches or anything while playing it.
I like Sonic overall though.

I was a Nintendo kid, but I admit to being jealous of my friend for having Sonic 1 2 and 3.
Going from Mario to Sonic as a 5 year old was like riding a bmx then jumping on the back of a motorbike.

Also I might add, as far as I know, Mario doesn't have a genetic signalling pathway named after him.
You don't know how incongruous it is to be studying and being used to stuff named after scientists or after nothing in particular, and you go Wnt-7 gene, FGF gene, Hox gene, Sonic hedgehog gene...
It's a relatively important one for embryogenesis, too.

I've just realised this year will be Sonic's 25th anniversary.
Hoping an announcement of a new "proper" Sonic game is imminent. Hopefully "Classic" Sonic appears again, maybe even becomes the default look of him going forward. He looked so damn timeless in Generations.

The first three games are three of the best games ever made, and no cynicism or pessimism about sequels can ever take that away.

Bumping this up because I may have missed it, but have to say:
The songs from Sonic games are one thing I did like above Mario games (save for some of Mario's more orchestral stuff from Galaxy).
Including my favorite of them all:
Crush40 usually does good work on this series.

I'll say this about Blue Boy: he was apart of my favorite crossover not named JLA/Avengers in Worlds Collide.
Also, top notch music.

Sonic 1 was my first game ever on Sega Megadrive/Genesis and I enjoyed it so much my whole family all had fun with it.

Sonic was never my favorite growing up... mainly since me and most of my friends were all Nintendo households... but I did play Sonic 2 a bunch at the one friend who did have a Genesis house... it was fun. but it is a Shame that a Video game icon like Sonic, only seem to get games that range from good but flawed to absolute broken mess... and instead of fixing the problems Sega is much more content to salt the Earth and start over. |

Ah Sonic I always loved the blue blur but you know I would really liked it if the Archie Freedom Fighters would get some love from Sega and make an Sonic and the Freedom fighter game heck it would be a lot more interesting than a Shadow the Hedgehog game

Honestly, as fun as the Sonic comics/SatAM crew were, they have their place and as far as TV goes, had their time IMO. I wouldn't be oppossed if they could be integrated somehow into the actual game continuity, but for now, I'm happy with them remaining to the comic world.
Plus, less chance of another Ken Penders situation like this.
