He was well before my time but I always remember stories of my dad talking about how he was always the champ ... but he never got to see him wrestle.
outside of wrestling he seemed like a real class act.
RIP Bruno.

Was also before my time, but I love reading about historical figures in wrestling and he was arguably at the top. I'm glad he and Vince/WWE came together before he passed. RIP!

I wonder how many major WWWF guys are left? Backlund, Vince, Fink, Patterson and Graham?

Without him, there would be no WWE and none of us would be here right now. RIP Bruno.

I met him, along with Ivan Koloff, in 2008. It's sad that they're both gone in the last year.
While Ivan was the smiling, gregarious uncle, Bruno was the quiet, classy grandfather who didn't have to raise his voice to make the whole room stop and listen.
As has been mentioned, his story before wrestling is fascinating. Add his one of a kind career, and you have the kind of story we'll never see again.
Despite this, he was humble and kind, and legitimately appreciative of the fans.
Jim Cornette asked him about the "Living Legend" moniker, and while Bruno acknowledged using it,added, "I don't think of myself that way. That's not up to me. If the fans think of me as a legend, then I'm honored by that."
I think we're all glad that he was able to take his rightful place in the hall of fame during his life.
Rest in peace, sir.

RIP to a true legend. I'm glad that he and WWE were able to get back on good terms and he received the recognition and acknowledgement that he deserved.

Bruno was truly the company's first mega-face, and his 8-year run will never be broken.
I never knew he had any kind of health problems recently. RIP Bruno.

Glad that he was able to get into the WWE Hall of Fame before his death. It felt incomplete without him (and some others in the past, like Savage) for a while.
RIP Bruno.

Just a couple of weeks ago, I was talking to my dad (who was a HUGE Bruno Sammartino fan when he watched WWWF as a kid) and we marveled at how long Bruno lived since pro wrestlers don't exactly have a reputation for living long, happy lives.
RIP Bruno. I'm happy he patched things up with WWE so that his legacy can be properly celebrated.

I'm shocked and saddened. Bruno came off like one of those guys who would be 102 and still giving shoot interviews.
In a business that's full of less than stellar characters, the worst you could ever see about Bruno is that he could be a bit of an old-fashioned curmudgeon. I think that says volumes.
In a weird way, I kind of feel bad for Vince. Vince can't have too many contemporaries left. I'm sure it makes him feel lonely and more than a little regretful.

The original wrestler for the working man and easily one of the most-influential and respected to ever lace up the boots.
Thank you Bruno Sammartino, rest in peace sir.

Classiest man ever. In a business filled with con men and liars he was one of the few who remained a good man.

What a bummer. I'm just glad that he patched things up with Vince towards the end with Vince, and that his incredible legacy will be well-remembered. RIP to a true pioneer. ![:(](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/sad.png)
