And then she gets upset at people shaming her She spins it as though she's being "body shamed". Personally I have no problem with her curvy figure. But when she insists on wearing unflattering jean shorts that look two sizes too small with her ass cheeks hanging out, she's fair game for criticism IMO. She looks nice, but yeah it does seem like she's playing the body shaming card too often to get a free pass to wear whatever she wants, or doesn't want. And as I said didn't she get the reduction surgery to STOP people from looking? It does seem that plus-size actresses/models/etc try to make a statement by dressing like, well, any actress or model, even with skimpy outfits, though. /Not that I'm complaining. |

Aside from puberty, what has Ariel done to cause people to get upset? Legit asking. I think people are more just confused that she sounds and acts more Hayley in Real Life while Sarah Hyland is actually pretty conservative about her social media stuff. Also, she swears a lot. |

Matthew McConnaghey seems like he woke up one day, realized he was famous for "alright alright alright" and playing the bongos naked, and decided to reinvent himself as a serious artiste. Hasn't always been great, but it did give us True Detective.

Avenged Sevenfold went from a pretty bad metalcore band, to a pretty awesome combination of metalcore and 80's metal, to a really average rock band that's inexplicably popular.

Aside from puberty, what has Ariel done to cause people to get upset? Legit asking. To quickly summarize, the moment she became of age, it seemed like there was this 'sexual awakening' in her that comes off as somewhat trashy for no rhyme or reason, to the point where it goes beyond 'finding her sexuality' and comes off as 'attention seeking'. Case in point:  Combine that with her repeated interviews in the past talking about how she hates to be sexualized, and the aforementioned body shaming, it is a double standard honestly. |

And Modern Family itself is in on this too now. At least two episodes had what could be veiled shots at Ariel's internet critics. Last night's episode, for instance, had Claire say "I'm not a fan of liberated Alex." Unless I'm reading too much into it, who could she be standing in for? I think the earlier instance was a November episode where Alex tells Claire that she indeed is more liberated now with her boyfriend and all, and can be taken as Ariel Winter talking to her audience as well. I don't think she is a bad person necessarily. And maybe the idea of "less clothes = more out of control" is a bit overblown. But...I don't know. On a different topic, to continue this thread, I don't know how being a TNA star ranks as a celebrity, but Rob Strauss/Robbie E was like this too, in a negative way. Look over in the Nasty vs. Nicest thread, I mention our experience with him after he got big (fish in a small pond). I knew him when he did local indies in Jersey and he used to be a lot nicer compared to that incident, which by the way we never got an explanation/apology for. Bill DeMott, depending on how much you believe the stories, is at least a lot easier going now. Maybe having to leave WWE, then his daughter dying, made him humbler after all that? |

When you watch her early-mid 90s stuff she’s quite conservatively dressed and it must be mentioned, had a great voice back then.
Fast forward a few years and there’s a hell of a lot of flesh on display. I don’t want to come across as “slut shaming” as she can wear whatever the hell she likes but it seemed to coincide with her voice losing its power and like she was trying draw attention away from it.
Watch the video for All I want for Christmas is You, yes she’s outside but she’s not showing much. Then there’s that god-awful version she did with Bieber a few years ago, she’s basically trying desperately for her dress to ride up so we can all see her arse.
1994 Mariah with a Santa dress on where she’s showing her bare shoulders is infinitely sexier than the dress she’s almost wearing in the 2010s version.
