OK, wrong milestone there. Thought she was younger.

Mariah Carey When you watch her early-mid 90s stuff she’s quite conservatively dressed and it must be mentioned, had a great voice back then. Fast forward a few years and there’s a hell of a lot of flesh on display. I don’t want to come across as “slut shaming” as she can wear whatever the hell she likes but it seemed to coincide with her voice losing its power and like she was trying draw attention away from it. Watch the video for All I want for Christmas is You, yes she’s outside but she’s not showing much. Then there’s that god-awful version she did with Bieber a few years ago, she’s basically trying desperately for her dress to ride up so we can all see her arse. 1994 Mariah with a Santa dress on where she’s showing her bare shoulders is infinitely sexier than the dress she’s almost wearing in the 2010s version. Well you must remember that Madonna aside, we hadn't come to the "female singers should all be bikini models and sex goddesses" territory just yet in the mid 90s. When you got Britney, Christina, etc., the toothpaste went out of the tube, or pop star out of the dress, as it were. So did all subtlety, I'm afraid. Sadly it's what women have to do to stay relevant in today's society and appear hip.

I can't exactly blame Winter or any other child star who had to keep straight laced that when they become adults, feel the need to explore their sexuality. Especially Disney Channel stars.

Ricky Gervais
Its notable on XFM, he's always a bit arrogant but never too much and has zero problem laughing at himself but after the success of the Office he becomes almost unbearable with his ego and gets more uptight about been mocked himself.

I've always thought Tommy Mottola really controlled her image when she was married to him. They divorce and BAM!

He went through this phase of responding to people saying he’s not funny or one of his shows with a picture of himself and a celebrity. Like someone said something like “The Invention of Lying was shite” and he responded with a pic of himself and Larry David. So because you know Larry David you’re above criticism? I’ve always maintained that Stephen Merchant was the better writer of the two. I actually really like Ricky but ever since he and Stephen stopped working together, he’s had no one to reign him in a bit. Which is why shows like Derek(whilst occasionally funny) had a tenth of the charm and humour of The Office. Or even Extras.

Snoop Dogg went from being a gangsta when he was with Death Row. After he signed to No Limit, he started doing that pimp image.

With Gervais, I always got the impression he was annoyed that Karl was more popular than him. Gervais of course is more famous, but Karl is more beloved and I've always felt Ricky was irritated by that. On XFM, when Karl starts becoming the focus you can sorta sense a bit of bitterness in the later series that Ricky realises the show is popular because people love Karl rather than Ricky and his comments insults turn a bit meaner. There's the bit where Karl was asked if he had any movie ideas, and Ricky seems obviously irritated that the production company went to Karl and not himself. Ironically, Karl's idea pretty much was the basis of an episode of Black Mirror. I agree about Steve too. He was definitely the better writer. I like Ricky, he's clearly a talented guy and can be funny. But, since he became famous he's clearly become much more egotistical and insecure than he was.

I like Ricky, he's clearly a talented guy and can be funny. But, since he became famous he's clearly become much more egotistical and insecure than he was. I think the public took to Karl so quickly because he’s seemingly got no ego. He’s fully aware of owing his fame to Ricky and Steve but he’s very content in just getting on with whatever he’s doing. Ricky can’t help but over-hype some of his later work, like proclaiming that Derek was the best thing he’d ever done. It’s almost like “you know how great some of my stuff has been, do you expect me to not improve on that?” One of the reasons The Office is rightly lauded as a masterpiece is that it’s so understated. I was watching The Office Christmas DVD a few weeks back and one of the extras is a video of the cast and crew before the Golden Globes and you can see they genuinely believe they have no chance. Ricky did false modesty so well back then he really was being modest, now he’s not even trying to be humble anymore. He’s buying into his own hype. It’s a shame because I’ve been following him since the 11 o clock show and I’m one of the few who loved Meet Ricky Gervais. But he hasn’t done anything really special for years now. I know I’ve been badmouthing him a lot here but I really do like him. I’d like nothing more than to see him back on form and he most certainly has the talent to do so, he just needs to remove his head from his own arsehole every now and again.

Ricky Gervais, the arrogant, condescending atheist and animal rights activist that even arrogant, condescending atheists and animal rights activists have to tell to tone it down. Good lord did my patience for him evaporate quickly.

A lot of these especially the ones who have developed reactionary views can simply be chalked up to the natural grumpiness and self righteousness that comes with age, who knows? It might happen to you.
A more tragic case is Tila Tequila. Her rabid adoption of white nationalism (despite not being white) coincided with some brain damage she suffered due to an overdose and I can't help think that it was a factor, reminds me of the Phineas Gage case.
