The first one that comes to mind is one I see repeated quite often, people speak as though Steve Austin was one cup of tea away from being called Chilly Mcfreeze. In reality what happened is he was given a fairly long list of name suggestions one of which was "Chilly Mcfreeze" it was never the actual plan, it was just one of many suggestions.

D-X pulling up to the arena where Nitro was running like it was the moment that turned the tide for the Monday Night Wars. It was good and mildly entertaining but the bigger story that night was Steve Austin raising hell for McMahon.

One that goes both ways! The DX Tank!
WWE claims it single-handedly destroyed WCW.
This board tries to counter by dismissing it as just a run of the mill segment.
It was an amusing segment that did very well in the ratings and got people into the new DX. Nothing epic and nothing to be dismissed out of hand.

Triple H being buried in the mid 90s because of the curtain call.
The way it gets told is like Triple H was buried for years and put in humiliating angles. Usually used with clips of the hog pen match as an example.
Even though the hog pen match happened in 1995, so before the curtain call even took place.
And also the Curtain call happened in May and he won the Intercontinental title in October. So 4 months. That's all, in a 23 year run with the company he wasn't booked super strong for about 4 months of it.

It was good and mildly entertaining but the bigger story that night was Steve Austin raising hell for McMahon. It would be much bigger had they gotten in the building or a fight broke out. Yes I know it was never going to happen because of neither one would want the other gain TV ratings.

WWE never once claimed it single handedly destroyed WCW. They only claimed it turned the tide in the Monday Night Wars.

Joey Styles punching JBL. The way I've read or heard the story told you'd think he got the dude like Butterbean got Bart Gunn.

The Undertaker’s Mania streak. Impressive, sure, but a LOT of those were terrible matches against monster jobbers.

Diesel would’ve drawn more if he was allowed to be an anti hero.
Nah Diesel was dookie and still would’ve never drawn shit.
Also Vince beating the government, the only reason he won was because of Nailz contradicting himself and admitting that he hated McMahon.

Everybody (including WWE) refers to it as a tank when it was just a jeep with a gun mounted on it.
