Just like, every promo he's ever made in WWE, especially during the Cena feud. I consider vulgar comments made while portraying a character on a scripted entertainment show to be a pretty thin argument against him, especially in a feud where he was caught reading lines written on his arm. While kayfabe likes to pretend otherwise, Dwayne Johnson and The Rock are not one and the same. Real stretch to call him homophobic

Hey, watch this. I'm sorry. It's not that goddamn hard. Zero sympathy. So saying something stupid years ago is unforgivable, but being a creep and generally shitty human being who stalks complete strangers and promotes harassment and violence against them, their friends and their family yet still claims to be the champion of social justice despite acting exactly like supremacist groups is acceptable. That's the decent, human thing to do. Gotcha. Glad to know you're a perfect saint who has never said anything regretable in your entire life or that'd be a horribly hypocritical thing to say. Oh and Hart has apologized. Multiple times. But as your reaction once again proves, that doesn't matter. I mean, for crying out loud, just because what he said is shitty is no excuse to defend even shittier behaviour. And don't you people come crying when the mob comes for you next. You'll know exactly who to blame.

It's really hard to defend either side. On the one hand, Kevin some pretty hurtful stuff against homosexuals. On the other hand, Kevin is a comedian. I agree that everything should be okay to be joked about. The defining characteristic of a joke should simply be if it's funny or not funny. As we saw before with James Gunn, things said in the past can bite people in the ass even if they were kidding. People say stupid things. People will continue to say stupid things. Yes times change and we should be more sensitive. 70 years ago it was okay to have horribly racist caricatures of minorities in the mainstream. About 20 years ago, people used the word "gay" to mean something was bad. Luckily we continue to evolve (well I hope we have. Sometimes it's hard to tell) But I also don't know how I feel about people out there who go through your social media history to check out embarrassing or horrible stuff to have a "gotcha" moment and this outrage culture we've developed. Honestly, this along with other episodes prove to me twitter is proof we don't need a device to instantly put our thoughts to millions of others. We need a filter. For us, usually it's friends or family who say that's not cool. For a comedian it's at the club where the joke lives or dies on the laughs.

Excuse my language but what a crock of shit. I want to see these people who are self employed faux outrage specialists who get their kicks by ruining careers or lives. Kevin Hart not hosting the award show isn’t going to stop gay bashing, nor is it even targeting someone worth targeting in the first place. There are real hate crimes going on, and people want to send a message through a damn comedian? What a joke.
When people get upset about the term SJW being thrown around, this is why it is thrown around the first place. The sad part is, more people will probably sympathize with Hart.
While we are at it, John Cena made gay jokes every week in the 2000’s. Send out the bat signal.

My goodness, these "SJW" and "anti-SJW" assholes need to just f*** off already. Stop digging up old shit to "cancel" people and find something better to do with your time (for the record I have wayyyy more in common with the "SJW" squad, but shit like this is is just lame)

or with even a little more thought. I was younger and stupider, that is not an excuse it was inappropriate then and it is inappropriate now... I'm sorry to anyone that was offended by my remarks. When you've said you'll do everything you can to stop your son being gay because you're afraid of it, I mean LITERAL homophobia, that's not really looking for stuff to be offended by, that's you saying horrible, horrible things. He really said that? If so, yikes!
Also, can we stop calling these people SJWs and call them what they really are: Pearl Clutchers?

I'm not sure how that's a joke in pretty much any way. It's not like he's a particularly dark comedian who says super controversial things, so I can't see that angle on it. It's not like this stuff is super obscure either, it's material he put out there publicly, stuff he said and made money off of, so to me, that's fair play.

11 weeks before the show so they're going to have to find an replacement host quickly, my suggestions for replacement host: Jimmy Kimmel (I'd tolerate one more year of Kimmel as host of the oscars) Edge and Christian (It's not gonna happen but the Oscars should need a reek of awesomeness) Ryan Seacrest The Rock (he hosted an Wrestlemania, but Rock hosting the Oscars? Very little chance) Any other suggestions for an replacement host? Tell the Oscars people to back a dump truck full of cash into the parking lot of my apartment and let them know I apologize for literally everything in advance.

If that is supposed to be a joke, where's the punchline? That can't be he whole thing and surely there's something missing from context, right? I'm trying to find something to make context better, I'd like to give the benefit of the doubt, all I'm finding are jokes about how it's bad when boys do stuff like play with girl's toys and how you need to shut that down before they turn gay. I grew up in the 80s/90s, so I remember "that person might be gay" being the punchline in a lot of sitcoms etc. More I'm looking, looks like he was riding that train for quite some time. Edit: Another word to the "I can't believe someone went digging through his old tweets to find this" argument. The routine this is from is currently on Netflix, it's called Seriously Funny. That's not digging, that's watching the man's work, I'm currently at work, but anyone else wants to watch and grab context that changes this, go right ahead and if it does, I'll apologise and admit I was wrong.

So people find these tweets, the Oscars give Hart a choice between apologising or stepping down.
He declines to apologise and promptly steps down.....only to then apologise anyway.
Huh?

So people find these tweets, the Oscars give Hart a choice between apologising or stepping down. He declines to apologise and promptly steps down.....only to then apologise anyway. Huh? That I can kind of get. If he apologised, he wanted it to be because he chose to, and not because they forced him to. That and this apology not having the "I'm sorry you're offended tone" of his other ones looks a lot better. So I'm hoping this is for real. But, as I edited, it looks like it wasn't just digging through old tweets. More they looked at his stand up special on Netflix, spotted the... questionable routine THEN did a search for various homophobic words that he turned out to have used many times. Less a purposeful "let's get him because he's doing well", otherwise why now? why not when one of his many movies came out? That'd cost him far more money etc. More he was announced, they looked at his work, then went based on that.

Good on Hart standing his ground. Im sixk of it too. I'm even more a fan now. I agree he did the right thing by bowing out, but the apology afterwards, especially since he claims to have apologized already in the past, was excessive. I wouldn’t have done that, but then again he makes millions of reasons to make sure his “brand” is protected so I understand it from that standpoint. I guess he just wanted to show that he wasn’t apologizing just to keep the gig, which hopefully makes the Twitter Fingers Community happy, until they dig up their next victim.

Hey, watch this. I'm sorry. It's not that goddamn hard. Zero sympathy. Yeah there's certain people whose posts/Tweets I can bring up from 4 years ago or so as I never got an apology for them. But yeah. You were told to stop bringing it up and here you are, obliquely doing so. Stop it.

Another modern day scarlet letter given out. That’s pretty much what some people are trying to do these days. “Cancel” others by digging up something inappropriate out of the past. Name and shame. Stir up “outrage.” Attempt to ruin the famous person. I’m pretty sure the network or his agent recommended that Kevin Hart step away from this gig to help squash the heat from this. The networks always freak out about anything considered inappropriate because they worry about ratings and advertisers. Anything that may cost them money won’t be tolerated.
Kevin Hart will be fine. He will continue to make movies. He will continue to make money. Some digital stalker knocked him down for a minute. The haters can bask in whatever happiness they get from this “gotcha” moment but Kevin Hart will still have a successful career in Hollywood. That this stuff even affected him shows how successful he is. No one would care if this kind of thing came out about Andy Dick or Flavor Flav. They’re not getting the kind of work where something like this would affect them.
