From Reddit. This is concerning the most recent episode of Raw.
Wow. The only thing I agree with is that a long Alexa match would not be good. The part in bold infuriates me, lowkey.
It's nice to know that the company shares a lot of the fan's mentality of 'damaged goods.' It's probably that mentality that will keep Kofi from winning the WWE title. They'd rather push guys that have already had world title reigns (Owens or Bray, reportedly.)
I agree, possibly, that not everyone can be built all the way back up but that doesn't mean that you should stop building the roster you already have. Black, Ricochet and DIY will become familiar on the main roster too. If management loses interest in them, likely after booking them into a slump, then they'll be damaged goods too. That mentality needs to die. It's not a real sport. It's a television show. You can write things for your characters.
Also... I expect Rusev to ask for his release soon. Just an example. If these four new guys, all great, will be working SDL then that's even less time for an upper-midcard and a midcard which struggles to get TV time. Forget about the lowercard.
Vince might be succeeding in creating a sense of resentment in the locker room. The more callups happen, the more people are going to be pushed out. I don't think even the post-WM trades will fix this, considering there will be more guys debuting in April too.
Very interesting but very frustrating. As usual, WWE misreads what the issue is.
Dave brought up tonight what the original Raw script was supposed to be and why the show was re-written last minute
The show was supposed to be built around Seth. They had to change the whole show around because he’s still not cleared. They thought he would be by now but he’s not. He should be ready soon though.
Ronda was supposed to face Alexa in a squash. Because Seth was off the show, they needed a longer Ronda match and thought a longer Ronda/Alexa match would have been not good, so they switched it to Ronda vs. Ruby because they thought it would be a better match
It was supposed to be Finn vs. Ricochet. Triple H apparently got that match changed because he thought that it made no sense to give that match away now and plus Ricochet would have to lose considering Balor just won the title. He didn’t like the babyface vs. babyface dynamic. He thought it would just be a good match for the sake of one, so he argued against it and got it changed.
Meltzer also brought up that the reasoning behind the NXT call-ups is that at some point last week, Vince decided for whatever reason that they he wanted a lot more great wrestlers on Raw. So he basically told Triple H to give him his four best guys in NXT and these are the guys that were picked.
He added later that Vince feels like the reason the ratings are down is that the shows lack stars, but that most of the guys on the roster are already too damaged to be built back up all the way. So they brought up these four NXT guys to push super hard right out of the gate and make them stars.
