They. Don't. Advertise. It. As. Fake. Sure they do. People are out of character all the damn time in interviews and on social media, the Network bumpers are constantly letting you know everything's fictional, they freely put out documentaries talking about booking decisions and stuff, they've run behind-the-scenes podcasts on the Network before where guys have talked about the booking including Vince himself doing it, they don't hide it at all.

And to an extent, I don’t have a problem with it because showing the real side of people shows a greater appreciation for the art form in general rather than it being where it can be and treated like a novelty or nobody understanding what these people put themselves through for entertainment. Hell, Network documentaries are where you should do that stuff because it’s for the big fans to find out more about the business itself Doing it on the show itself as WWE seem to love to do lately, though? F*** that.

F*** that. That's what I'm talking about. On the shows they don't say it's fake. At least, until recently. We're adults. We know the shit's fake. But the younger fans might not, and even when I watch, it shouldn't be, "Oh well...Brock is three times bigger than this guy, he's going to win." If that's how the show is going to be, what's the point of watching?

Brock is the one huge name they have available that can still go on a regular basis (as long as they pay him) so I get why they brought him back but they really need to build dudes who can challenge him. Like not beat him by kicking him in the dick, build someone who will dismantle him. As for not telling the people in the match that Brock was involved, that just seems like a recipe for disgruntled talent... realistically about 70percent of the roster are skinny, cirque de Sol/acrobat type wrestlers....Come on be serious now could anyone believe Johnny Gargano/Ricochet/Kofi could be seen as a realistic contender, put up a realistic fight against the NCAA/UFC champion Then why Dr. Death jobbed? Why don't Minoru Suzuki just shoot on everyone? It's not real but you can use those real skills to tell a story. Velvateen Dream just beat Matt Riddle and it was accepted.

Sorry to kill the narrative but his isn’t at all what WCW used to do. They weren’t working the boys here. Everyone involved knew exactly how much they needed to know.

I'll never understand the "who'd believe a small guy could beat a big guy" argument when we're talking about a form of entertainment where the Irish Whip exists and punches and kicks to the face are used as harmless transition moves. Not to mention that history is chock full of big man jobbers. I don't remember Reese going over too many guys.

I think the only time the size argument really works for me at all is when it comes to whipping off Frankensteiners/Huracanranas or Canadian Destroyers on dudes that weigh 200+ more than the guy going it does (eg : if, say, Rey did it to, say, Big Show).

If this is true...man, this is not how business should be done. Especially if they were telling Ali he was going over for most of the day only to pull the rug out from under him.
Just...who benefits from this?

Ah yes, the old “swerving the boys” booking mentality. Always a great sign of a healthy wrestling company.
