I don't think Split really fits. It wasn't marketed as a sequel. They hid the fact that it was connected to Unbreakable, and it's basically a standalone movie with a cameo at the end which signifies it is part of the Unbreakable series. The movie was a big success. It was largely marketed on James McAvoy's performance and it being a return to form for Shyamalan. Agreed. I think a better argument could be made for that the sequel to both, Glass, was too late. Either way it did poorly at the box office.

Remember these Welcome to the sequel hut I had no idea about Undercover Brother 2. I guess someone thought that they could try to replicate Black Dynamite, but really, nobody could.

When they finally get released the Avatar sequels will definitely qualify for this. They are going to bomb so hard.

I read that Faizon Love and Kirk Fox are playing the same characters that Damon Wayans and Adam Sandler respectively played in its predecessor. I don't have any hopes for this, really. I mean I understand a lot of straight-to-video sequels that are rehashes or have the name slapped on to see if it will draw. For example, there are multiple Bring It On sequels with the whole cheerleader things going on, or even a couple of Honey sequels with the dancing thing going on (Though Jessica Alba's character was named Honey). But this is the first time I have ever seen a straight-to-video sequel with the same two characters but are recast. They could have just followed the same premise as its predecessor. Hell, I didn't think it was that well-remembered since it didn't do well at the box office back in 1996, unless it was a rental success.

See I think Avatar 2 at least will make a big amount, but after that the novelty of it will wear off. Can you imagine how lackluster that stuff will get by the time you get to Avatar 4-5? Oh and how did Glass do poorly at the box office? It made about 247 million worldwide on a budget of 20 million. That's pure profit. Split did make about 31 million more though.

Ghostbusters: Afterlife
While I wanted Ghostbusters 3, I think that ship sailed a few years ago, since it's been 30 years since Ghostbusters 2.
Plus, I feel the video game was a good enough sequel.

Mask Of Zorro was a good summer movie, and there was a lot of potential in that franchise. If I recall it even did well, they just waited forever to capitalize. I loved Mask of Zorro & it did do well, critically & at the box office...but, 8 years was way too long of a wait, plus Legend of Zorro sucked hard.
