JLH is currently starring in a TV show... and has been pretty consistently throughout all of the 2000's. Yeah, JLH belongs nowhere near this list Minnie Driver the same IMO, was on two well received shows in the 2010s

Speaking of Mike Myers, Dana Carvey as well. He had that well-recieved Netflix special a few years ago, but I think Master of Disguise killed his acting career.

I just remembered one: The Little Rascals Outside of Moe killing the original Alfalfa on The Simpsons and that movie in the 90s(Ithink?) I haven't really heard a thing about them. Fortunately the original Alafafa was an orphan owned by the studio...

Here's one that was big in comic pop culture for a brief time. Remember the first couple of years of Wizard Magazine? Remember how much they pushed this series in their top 10s and in general? I just remembered one: The Little Rascals Outside of Moe killing the original Alfalfa on The Simpsons and that movie in the 90s(Ithink?) I haven't really heard a thing about them. There was another movie just four years ago, and then there's that whole kinda-big thing when it happened a few months ago with Eddie Murphy returning to SNL, which included him resurrecting Buckwheat.

But after III, it went downhill and now other than a game now and then no one mentions it I’d say the games are just as big as they ever were, but in moving away from an annual release cycle the games actually have time to fade away from the front page before we’re talking about the new one. It was like COD, there was literally always a new game either coming or just released. If COD took a year or two off, they’d feel like they faded off the face of the earth

Nip/Tuck, The Shield, and The Sopranos were all milestones for TV that helped change the format from episodic to long form storytelling, but I think the format is so common now people have largely forgotten that dramas weren’t always basically visual novels.

When GTA first came out, it was part of a series of “drive around, run over people, go on shooting sprees, commit crimes, cause chaos” games that also included games like Postal, Carmageddon and Midtown Madness. Postal got a sequel, but it was pretty much panned, and it and the other two faded into obscurity.
And GTA arguably was headed for that fate until GTA3 came out.

I swear nobody talks about The Shield. That show started FX's pivot to having high-quality shows.

Robot Wars was huge at one point. It was big in England, and then thanks to the now defunct G4 Tech TV in the US it got a huge following in the US. And then, it got a US Spinoff, multiple in fact. At one point, Chris Jericho AND Mick Foley would host iterations of it in fact. The US also had Battlebots, which also was kind of everywhere as well until it wasn't.
Eventually, the last season was filled with really fake drama to try and drum up viewers and the last Final they had the Judges actually tampered with the finish to give the win to the bot Typhoon 2 and not Storm. Storm being a battering ram type of robot that the producers at the time deemed too boring to be the winner of the series, despite how cool it was that the thing moved at such a high speed it could and literally did in one case, ram robots over the wall and out of the arena.
It eventually did come back for at least one season recently (So did Battlebots funny enough), but to much less cultural impact and results. The days it was at its peak were definitely at the days when robots like Razor, Hypno-Disc, Pussycat, Tornado, and Chaos 2 who basically had the Goldberg streak going at one point. were the kings.

Tenchi Muyo used to be one of the top animes both to hardcore and casual fans (admittedly, that may have been due to the Toonami airings), but now you never hear anyone talk about it (as opposed to even older franchises like Dragon Ball, Gundam, Lupin, and Jojo, which still have massive fan followings, even among casuals). I know OVA 3 wasnt as good as anticipated, and GXP is best ignored, but it's like it never existed now.

Beanworld .... Have any of yall read any issues? I remember Palmer's Picks hyping it so found a few in a cheap bin in about 94. I haven't found a substance yet that makes these comics make sense. Oddly there is a few comics that got hyped to hell by Wizard and are forgotten. Hepcats,Starchild,THB..

That Tornado single handedly killed my interest in Robot Wars when in Season 6 final I think it was. Was a boring design to begin with and then in the last fight added that frame so that Razor couldn’t get to them and they had them over pit as well and literally couldn’t fit in it because of the size of this additional frame Such b*****t Hypno-Disc and Razor were awesome machines though

Unfortunately BECAUSE of Tornado, they actually rigged the Series 7 Final so Typhoon 2 would win. Higher ups found out about this and it factored in to Robot Wars first cancellation, it was supposed to be a legit competition and Series 7 began moving away from that and were trying to make it more dramatic and reality TVish. It wound up being their downfall until they returned a few years back but then got cancelled again... Battle Bots is still going though and they have a Twitch.

I just hated any robots that were just a box design. Just (in my opinion) a lack of imagination. It’s the equivalent of in football/soccer playing with all 10 outfield players behind the ball for the majority of the match and then nicking a goal....Yeah it works but boring to watch (Again just my opinion)

Robot the Bruce made the first series final despite being a polycarbonate box. The first machine of a certain George Francis.
