WWE taking women seriously was only ever a ploy to entice Rousey to work for them. Once it became clear she was done with wrestling the facade was never gonna' last. They're still showcasing women's matches and feuds all over the place. It's not like they're back to 3 minute matches and nothing bra and panties segments

It's not like they're back to 3 minute matches and nothing bra and panties segments Women's matches and feuds existed prior to the Women's Revolution™, which I assume is what the OP was referring to with the "fiveish years" comment. We're not back to bra and panties matches but we are back to Mean Girl dominance, matches abruptly ending, and hashtags trending to support women getting screwed over by booking. Only difference is the workrate's better. EDIT: The cage dancers are a new, TNA-ish wrinkle though. Innovation!

I was just taking a "morning" shower after waking up and ' was instantly thinking who would be my picks for photo shoots if WWE/WWF had decided to give us men calendars? Out of my head, first thing I thought: prime Rick Rude in leather, Randy Orton's hips n' calfs, Finn Balor in sexy tight ripped shirts and jeans (so they'll show off his amazing abs and that butt ) plus giving some bigger dude like Keith Lee or Bobby Lashley a shot as those dudes have that XXL+ masculine effect factor right there!

I'm not suggesting it's all perfect, but the women are treated like they matter and can showcase their talent better than at any point in the company's history.

Right?! Like, it doesn’t have to be naked but you couldn’t get a photo shoot with one of your most attractive guys instead of several puff pieces in Variety? Come on. I mean, f***, they’ve had a male model on their books since 2013, and not once they’ve thought to do a sexy calendar? I'm honestly shocked they never done a Finn Balor Calendar.

The moment anyone in charge saw that woman with the “Finn F*** my face” sign, their two reactions should be “Jesus, the hell is wrong with you, lady?!” and “So how do we make money from her?”

He still think a shallow definition of star look is a muscular man that would appear in the cover of an old Romance Novel.

A lady being the face of their company until her pregnancy leave seems like a pretty big one. I'd heavily dispute Becky being the face of the company when she got pregnant. Late 2018 into 2019 I'll grant you but after she main evented Mania, she became just another character on the roster. Once Ronda left, women largely stopped main eventing PPVs, the women's-only PPV was scrapped entirely, and we've seen a gradual resurgence of ancient character tropes and booking decisions (Bayley and Sasha becoming Mean Girls, Becky and Alexa getting attacked to further men's feuds, Lacey Evans' continuing push despite offering nothing). I don't think that's a coincidence.

I mean as long as they're not having em try to rassle the other women I don't see the issue.

What I couldn’t get over: You could tell they instructed them to dance sensually ...but not tooooo much. And to be sensitive of the camera and angles. Imagine walking that line. Sexy-but-not-too-sexy. “So like zombie stripper? Got it”

I don't think that's a coincidence. Sorry not seeing it even a little bit. The women get more time now than they did when even Rousey was there. Becky also main evented Survivor Series and TLC, well after Rousey was gone. And the women’s elimination chamber closed the show in February. Bayley or Sasha seem to open or close 50% or more of the Raws and Smackdowns. They’re also expected to have another Evolution PPV later this year.

I feel weird about these discussions. I would never want to come across as “Don’t you know you’re being exploited, stupid woman?!” But I guess there is inherent sexism, in women dancing in cages. Thought, ultimately, a woman can make that decision for herself. If they’re comfortable with it, why shouldn’t I be?
I think about the Dallas Mavericks sexual harassment scandal. Where some of their execs were outed as predators. Of course, they were quickly fired. But they also got rid of their dance team? Why? The problem was never that you had attractive women dancing at your games. The problem was employing total creep and allowing them to prey on their co-workers. Those dancers were out of a job, that maybe loved, and they’d did absolutely nothing wrong.
In short, j don’t think the solution to sexism, is to take away a women’s agency to be sexy. Because it implies that being sexy is the root problem. And if 100% isn’t.

AEW has women as meat objects at Fyter Fest. It's meant to be ironic. But women as ironic eye candy is still just... women as eye candy.
WWE actually ducked this impulse quite a lot outside of some shitty booking the last few years.
