Kinda sexist to say that a woman can't be a sexy dancer.

I was mostly pissed that Otis wasn't one of the dancers

WWE does a lot wrong on nearly every level, but I’m calling bullshit on this one. Okay. Feel like elaborating at all on that? Because the Women's divisions have been booked the same as the Men's divisions have been You're looking to start a mob but don't know how to light the flame of your torch.

God forbid dancers go extinct. Nah, it's more like "can't we get Earl Warren out there to shake his moneymaker, too?" Far too often, it's only women that are objectified when you're in a prime situation to have it both ways but you refuse 'cuz you just dont want to.

I wouldn't get the point of male dancers on the stage, because that eye candy is in the ring. Also, your seedy underground fighting league isn't exactly drawing an audience demanding male eye candy anyway. That being said, I do think Jessamyn and Shafir should get to beat the snot out of some PC extras at some point.

So, just a way I've heard it put that I think gets across the issue very well:
The problem isn't about who is wearing what, per se. The problem is when women, and only women, are treated as scenery. The AEW examples are actually really good here - that Bash at the Beach set basically had women in bikinis lounging around as part of the establishing shots of the set, which frames them as if they are set pieces rather than people. The person who explained it this way used the Hawaii 5-0 reboot as an example of a show that does this all the time.
And...the entire setup being described here is exactly that. It doesn't mean they treat all women badly, but it does mean that they're fine with women as scenery props.

Why are discussions about sexism and objectification on wrestling message boards always so cringeworthy?

Five years ago, they would've been the three top women's wrestlers in the company. or even come out as say HHH's wrestlemania entrance slave/harem/whatever they were supposed to be girls or something.

It would look like an underground Gay nightclub. Not that there's anything wrong with that but how hilariously out of place would that look when there's a bunch of fiery tough guys beating each other up in the ring? Its not sexist or "homophobic" or whatever to not have male dancers. It's just not suited to the sleazy edgy setup they were looking to capture.

Seriously? They brought in dancers because, apparently, it's a pretty common thing for there to be dancers at events like this. They tried to get the aesthetic down.. That's it. If you're filming a club scene for a movie, you might have cage dancers.. Because it's a thing and they exist.
.. And why would Shane McMahon hire male dancers?

Because imo I think half the people don't have these type of convos in real life and when they try to articulate it on a message board they dig themselves in a hole trying to throw their 2 cents in something they wouldn't dare discuss in their daily lives

If you say the women have not been taking seriously, i'm sorry you are 100% wrong Becky Lynch was not only the most untouchable woman on the roster, she was the most untouchable person in general. She was their star and Vince was going to ride that until it broke down. See my OP thread on her Sonya and Mandy aren't feuding over who wants to f*** Otis. Bayley and Sasha are just running up in people's homes and taking all their shit and laughing in their face. See NXT where they have the best womens roster in NA and all the feuds is based around who wants to be champ

It felt so random.

Stacy and Terri were glorified managers who occasionally wrestled and they never could get it right with Jacqui

We need gifs of Terri and Jacqueline's awkward dancing.

I saw nothing wrong with it, but in the sense of I didn’t give it much attention, I was focused on seeing if that faction was gonna pop up. But yeah, I have to agree with they were getting the aesthetic down. It seems like a stretch considering how wwe has booked women storylines to be just as important and prominent as the men.
