What'll help these guys more than anything is the fact they're young, and can work. And as a team? They're very new, since they never tug before Dynamite. So they clearly see a lot of talent and upside and both to be getting this match, but AEW's good at refining characters, and I can see them working out the kinks with Acclaimed over time.

I just can’t get into them. The tag team seems so forced. The non rapper dude just kinda makes weird facial expressions and tries to seem hip while the other dude awkwardly raps. I also see a smaller David Otungo in the guy who doesn’t rap and I just can’t get over seeing that.

I said it on the Dynamite thread, but the rapping on Dynamite reminds me a lot of when John Cena first got his Doctor of Thuganomics persona over as a heel. It worked in 2003-2004, but some of the racier aspects of them don't seem like they translate as well in 2020. Cena's bars were substantially better tho and yes I will die on this hill

Until Dynamite goes back on the road, Caster can't really play that card since he'd just be insulting the same city every week.

So, the only thing I've seen of these guys is the raps on Dark that have been posted, which were all pretty good? But if they're crossing the line into offensive and being unenjoyable on the main show, that sucks. I like to make some leeway for heels to be able to do bad things, but "they're heels so its ok" isn't an infinite defense. That's the thing. On Dark they are fun, have good freestyles, and generally good wrestlers. But on Dynamite they've had two questionable freestyles, and that match with SCU just didn't work. It kind of stopped the show in it's tracks a bit. I think they job next week, and their gimmick probably gets tweaked. Or they work on themselves, which AEW tends to do.

Thought the match was fine personally. I liked Bowens new finisher, good they used that because I think they need a better choice than Acclaim to Fame They ain't gonna job, but I don't see em winning. If AEW ramps up the Trios in leau of a potential belt, they could be a good team to flank a more important talent, or be the thing a talent needs to find something like Baron Black for example. We'll see.

are all of their Dark freestyles really that good though? I've very much enjoyed The Acclaimed in the ring, but "manlet and a guy addicted to Pornhub" wasn't exactly an amazing burn either

That match on Dynamite was only their ninth match together. Tony Khan put them together because he saw something with them and it seems like they're good, but I don't know many tag teams who had it all together less than 10 matches in It's gonna be all about tuning them up, they've done well enough to get this buig time match from The Young Bucks, after that I think it's all about continuing to find their identity.

I kind of like the acclaim to fame, something as basic as an elbow drop from the top rope to end it seems more impactful than some flippy flashy spindive because of how much of a rarity it is these days, just a big guy dropping down, driving his elbow into you. One of those moves I think will be enhanced by gestures when going for it, but they'll get those down with more experience as a team.

Yeah, I like it, too, and it's not like the Northern Lights Bomb setting it up doesn't look like death, too. Simple can be nice.

Good point, also there aren't many bang bang finishers in the tag division, Acclaim to Fame is that

It's hilarious how Kazarian pretty much beat him at his own thing. Those were actual good insults and not just calling him gay.

As others have stated I think the point is they aren't supposed to be the best at it, which leaves them open for stuff like Kaz dissing them back. The point seems to make them have lamer disses so they get heat. For the most part it's worked, just whatever they're doing with the Bucks needs to be dialed back...

Unrelated, what's with Caster licking and kissing the hands of the person they pin? I don't like that spot at all.

The closest explanation I can get is he's wiping his mouth like he just ate, er go his opponent was a like a meal and they finished them. Excalibur and Taz have seen the spot multiple times and they have no explanation on DARK, Taz has called it out multiple times, which is weird, because Excalibur usually knows or is told things.

The wiping hand ok, but the kissing. I guess Wyatt kisses people on the forehead for this move, and it's not considered ... assaulty.. but something about him kissing the hand seems non-consenty. Im sure he asks beforehand, but still. Creeps me out, which I guess is the point. Generally, I have enjoyed them, except the Bucks raps. I did notice that after the first Bucks promo, the disses on Dark felt less personalized, more generic insults. They didn't even do one on Nokozawa, which was weird to me. Made me feel they are tweaking them to see what works.

So now they used the word "cucks". Hooray. If I wasn’t done with them after the period line I sure was after that. Sad to see people defending both on other sites.

It's not that I hate them I think they have potential, it's that they have far more talented acts on Dark that they could be giving TV time instead.

If we're talking in general, I agree, though between FTR, Jericho/Hager, and now the Young Bucks, they've been giving a bunch of tag teams who haven't been given a lot of spotlight yet a shot, so the Acclaimed getting this shot right now makes sense. Guessing that after the Bucks beat them, they will mostly go back to Dark again for the time being. If we're talking tag teams, most of the other Dark mainstays have recently been given these sorts of shots. Top Flight jumped ahead in line, Luther/Serpentico got the Jericho match (Though, I do think they have a decent shot of getting a Bucks match sometimes for the hell of it), Janela/Kiss get on Dynamite pretty often as it is, and honestly, I think Best Friends or Jurassic Express have a solid shot of being the people who beat Young Bucks for the titles eventually, anyway, if Uno/Stu don't do the honors.
