Yeah, I can only share the sentiment others have said where other cases can be things taken out of context or misunderstood or a flub and that can be put aside a bit more, this whole thing is pretty gross.
Like, look, if you want to have Mitchell on to defend himself, whatever, but the fact Dave himself said it wasn't COVID and others of his ilk have said it wasn't COVID...call him out on it. Dude basically accused a company and, more importantly, a grieving widow of hiding information from the public that, honestly, none of us had a right to know about and continued with that even after he was fired. He didn't apologise, as he said on the podcast, nor did he leave it well alone.
The fact that others on the website tried to stop him from doing it and are now doing their own damage control is pretty crazy considering, like, this is their livelihoods being dragged into this, too. Like him, dislike him, whatever, Bryan Alverez is pretty much the voice of the radio shows at this point. If Dave goes down for this, he does too.

Just thunderously stupid, and worse, seems clear Alvarez wasn't in the loop about it at all.
Considering that, that's a very concise but good statement by Bryan there.

Yeah, smart move by Alvaraz there. Look, say what you will about twitter mob or cancel culture and in a lot of cases you may be right, but in this case? The community was right:
Bruce Mitchell published an article, hours after a man's death, basically accusing AEW and a grieving widow of hiding the cause of death. Instead of admitting a mistake, he doubled down. Bruce needs to own this. As much as I give Meltzer the benefit of the doubt on his controversies, on Bruce Mitchell, this was absolutely his fault. Everyone says dumb shit at some point and time. Hell, I've said dumb shit on this board all the time. However, many of us don't do it hours after a man dies and accuse his widow of lying. That's bullshit. Mitchell says he apologized? Yeah, much too late he apologized. After his article was pulled, after he was fired, after he shut down his twitter account, after spending several months thankfully being quiet and hopefully reflecting on the shitty things he did.
But I think it's more he doesn't want to be a pariah anymore... and promote his podcast.
If there's anything the IWC (wrestlers, fans, critics, etc.) agreed on at any point in time it was that Jon Huber was a good man. His family, at an incredibly painful moment of time, did not need Bruce Mitchell's bullshit. He and Meltzer don't get to blame cancel culture on this. Bruce Mitchell can have a podcast and pursue his career, absolutely. He, however, doesn't need to be given a platform by others. So those posting on twitter cancelling their WO subscriptions made their voices loud and clear as well.
F*** off, Bruce Mitchell.

Maybe I wouldn't be as harsh if the podcast was "hey, I f***ed up. I made a bad call. This pandemic, the election cycle, the world being shut down.. it messed all of us up, and I had a major lapse in judgment, and I made a terrible terrible accusation. For that, I shouldn't be forgiven, but if you do the kindness of allowing me a second chance to rebuild my reputation here's the details. Now, my friend and I are going to talk about the current events in wrestling. Thank You, and again I'm sorry." But no. It's another "hurr durr cancel culture! who'd imagine that actions have consequences?" podcast. I really want Bryan and the gang to divorce themselves from the Observer at this point, and I'm not even an Anti-Dave guy. Just the way he has doubled down on everything, the way he just responds to trolls taking his content out of context on Twitter.. I really only listen to Bryan and Vinny and Wrestling Observer Live. The Dave and Garrett stuff just ends up being Dave talking over everything and sticking his foot in his mouth.

Wow just caught up on this controversy. Amanda actually made a post calling out Dave’s non-apology for the episode “sorry for those that were offended.” This was just a huge swing and a miss by Dave. Can’t believe he said that Bruce was somehow vindicated, because it turned out that some people in AEW did have COVID. Awful stuff.
