What haven’t they done with MITB yet?

It’s been 17 years but there is still a lot that hasn’t been done I feel like:

-A friend cashing in on a friend (I think this would be perfect on KO and Seth with a slow build)
-MITB winner losing by the champ low blowing or intentionally DQing himself
-MITB winner vs Royal Rumble winner vs world champ at mania
-Cash in after champ vs champ match at survivor series

I do wish they'd have MITB winners call their shot, as it were, more often, like RVD's use of the case.

1. Hold MITB before the current holder's 365 days is up, and have a cash-in on top of a cash-in (which happens in MyRise in 2K22)

2. Have the Men's and Women's MITB holders cash in simultaneously (this would be obvious to spot).

3. Impose a new rule that makes the briefcase like a championship and if it changes hands, the time limit resets to 365 days from the date it changed hands.

4. Have someone cash it in successfully, only to be told they're minutes or seconds late after the year deadline.

5. Have someone manipulate the current holder to give them the briefcase and become the new MITB holder (this would've been perfect for Orton and Riddle if RK-Bro hadn't taken off)

6. Have someone well-known making their debut in the MITB match and win it.

7. Have a MITB match featuring ALL former holders still under contract.

8. Have qualifying for MITB be like Lethal Lottery/BattleBowl with 8 randomized teams fighting for themselves.

9. Have what I like to call a TLC-Squared Match, Tables, Ladders, Chairs, and CELL, where the MITB briefcase is actually hanging above the cell.

Yeah, I've thought about this way too much, haven't I?

Mystery MITB Holder:

The winner of the MITB shortly after his victory, comes out without the briefcase and reveals that he's sold the contract to someone for a considerable sum of money and the first contractual title shot after the new holder cashes in. Thanks to a non-disclosure agreement, it is not said who bought it.

Over the next few months' paranoia, accusations, and resentment grows as everyone starts suspecting everyone else of being the buyer. The Universal Champion accuses the WWE Champion of wanting to become a double titleholder, tag teams fall apart when both members think the other bought it, female superstars are speculated as the culprits, even retired superstars like Booker T have people interrogating them about being the buyer and wanting one last shot at glory. And the World Champions on both shows have them gradually looking over the shoulder all the time, completely unsure on who to trust.

Eventually the original MITB winner has a World Title match that they lose... only to stun the world and cash in right afterwards; the next night revealing the whole MITB buyer story was faked to throw everyone off his trail.

Of course, that's just one way to end it. You could have a debuting superstar, shocking return, all sorts of major surprises in revealing who the buyer is.

I feel like the only way they could get away with it and not just have it loom over everything, which is usually a problem with the case, is if you had it not physically in their possession. Like, make a big show of them having it kept in a deposit box or something.

Holy shit I didn’t even realize that lol. I guess I meant building up to the mania having the MITB winner announce the cash in beforehand after the rumble winner makes their choice. But I guess during the buildup to mania 31 they had Seth fued with Roman a little bit

Have a world champ be the MITB holder (either by winning the MITB or winning the title later without cashing in) and then when they lose the title, they immediately cash in and get it back. I don't think this would be good, but it would be new.

We've had someone cash in during the main event of WrestleMania, but what if we COMBINED both of Seth's WrestleMania title wins? After the Mania host does their opening bit, the briefcase holder comes out and announces they're cashing in the briefcase, right now! Champion comes out, we get a good match, briefcase holder wins. This plunges things into chaos backstage, because the main event has been set for nearly two months and now the title's changed hands at the beginning of the show. Eventually, midway through the show (or, if it's a two-night mania, the following night) the GM/host announces that the title match will now be a triple threat. I think it would actually work better with a two-night Mania, because if you do the cash-in/title change at the beginning of night 1, you can build it throughout the night and use it as a cliffhanger for night 2. Then at the start of night 2, you can confirm what the main event is for the fans and give people something they might not be expecting at the biggest event of the year.
