People will stop being charitable towards AEW when the booking starts running counter to sending the fans home happy, and while there have been some missteps, none of them seem like they're driven by spite the way we've seen with WCW, the WWE, TNA and so on. There has been no middle fingers to the audience so far, just ideas that didn't play as well as they'd hoped. And some, like the Gunns winning the tag titles, were more to transition the belt from the Acclaimed to FTR. Like yeah 2022 was an awful year for the TNT title until Joe got it and the Eddie/Jericho feud went on WAY too long, but a lot of AEW's missteps (not all) seem to be more of a stop in a longer story.

What wrestling promotion’s ever has a true “honeymoon”? TNA even in its early days with the hot X Division matches had stuff like Cheex and that crazy little person Puppet and Jarrett destroying everyone. And didn’t ROH have like a homophobia-baiting tag team once? All companies even when they have hot streaks will be rightfully criticized by someone when they’re doing dumb shit.

The Gunns winning the tag titles(even if it was a transitional feud) felt like it ruined the remaining good will some fans had for the company, it will be wait and see if those fans return now that FTR are the tag champs.
I doubt we will see Jericho in feuds as long as the Eddie one anymore as seen with the Starks feud, the Keith mini fued is just a stopgap for the Cole feud because apparently he wants a short feud and then move on to Garcia after DON.

Stop watching the show if all you're gonna do is shit on it. Watch something else. Says the same guy who hate watches RAW And just by the post you quoted, sounded like he was just joking about TK making funny faces during his announcements. didn’t sound like he was shitting on AEW at all. So chill out What is the point of doing something like that though? That kinda stuff is annoying. I thought coming to this forum would be a reprieve from all of the foolishness I see elsewhere on the internet, but it looks like that might not be the case.

I don't know what the pitch is for this is either. Because if we're talking about this community, we keep having discussions about how to improve and even the discussion where we talked about how to improve just had people taking shots at each other because one side was too lenient on the other and it lead nowhere. In terms of the product? I mean, there are flaws but the audience likes what they're seeing, the TV networks and streaming/PPV services likes what they're seeing, the venues like what they're seeing (They wouldn't have been the first wrestling show to be held in Arthur Ashe stadium and building to the first Wembley Stadium wrestling show for almost 31 years if they weren't) and outside of stuff that has, frankly, happened in almost every promotion ever, the talent seem genuinely happy too. So...we could just accept that there's an alternative and that's a good thing? Might be reaching for the stars here. I honestly feel like sometimes with AEW people only look at the raw numbers with ratings to judge growth which, IMO isn't always the best option. From all accounts they've been profitable, they're gaining more sponsors and partnerships, WBD keeps giving them tv timeslots. While not always sellouts they're selling tickets at a decent rate (and I'd be guessing it's gotten a lot better with Jarrett in charge of that) I've said in other threads, I think at times people take for granted where AEW is right now as a company as not a big deal. Like TNA was disastrous when they went on the road full time (their own faults) but within months of being on the road financially it got so bad that the Carters stripped the company to the bone (and to their credit, to be where they are now is a huge credit to Scott D'Amore). AEW is far from perfect. I enjoy most of what I see but there are valid critiques. I just find the hatred some have for TK and the Elite to be somewhat mind boggling... like there are so many people who just want them to fail and I don't get it. I feel like a lot of people, intentionally or otherwise, underestimate how big a deal it is to have a major company again after so many non-starters and dashed hopes. TNA was one of the few promotions that tried to replicate the Attitude Era to actually last and that was because of the people who ended up backing it and not having the talent raided by WWE when the chance came and even the lofty heights mentioned didn’t have the same annoyance to WWE as even New Japan with Bullet Club never mind AEW.

Stop doing that shit then Stop watching the show if all you're gonna do is shit on it. Watch something else. Bud you can't keep telling people to stop watching a product even if they're down on certain aspects of it and don't like certain things This is a discussion forum for a reason, people are gonna feel different and express it, and they should be allowed to. When I got ganged up on in the RAW thread for being negative but being positive leaning towards AEW, being called a hypocrite for such, people came to my defense because this is a public place and everyone's allowed to think how they want to think about one thing or the other, and have different opinions on everything. These people aren't trolls for not liking the thing you like, and they shouldn't be treated like such. It shouldn't ever get this personal or confrontational, they aren't even talking to you, they aren't trying to tell you or anyone else to not enjoy the show. Don't start this fight man, not worth it or worth derailing the thread to Lock City. Yeah, it's a discussion forum not be an asshole forum. I thought I was getting away from the idiocy on the internet by coming to this board, but that might not be the case.

Oh, TNA’s first couple of shows were the most Vince Russo to ever Vince Russo which says a lot. Like, one of the first things that happened after the opening segments was Brian Christopher saying to Ron Killings “Why don’t your kind take on my kind?” which raised so many alarm bells, I’m surprised America isn’t still locked up in underground bunkers to this day.

That's when the honeymoon period ended for me. Now I'm just numb to most of it, except the part that they have an owner that I'm begging to make one announcement, just ONE, without making weird ass faces. "Does anyone else have any questions?" - looks like he's scanning the crowd of people like the Predator "I bought Ring of Honor!"- looks like he's holding in a big shit "We're going to England!" - looks like he wants to eat your baby This seems unnecessarily harsh to me. He can't help what his face looks like when he's talking. I think we've speculated (with no malice or ridiculed attached, mind you) that Tony Khan might be some kind of neurodivergent. And that might be a part of it.
So yeah, I agree. Just seems petty and cruel to ridicule him on something he likely has no real, conscious control over instead of things that are more worthy of criticism.

And even not, he’s a dork. A lot of us here are dorks and would literally have the same faces unless we went to a f***load of acting classes. I’m neurodivergent and a dork so I feel like I’m an expert on these things.

2022 was a preeeeety rough year for AEW, because it's the first time bad management decisions were the complaint, not bad booking ones.
Plenty of us stuck through that and still enjoy AEW. There's no "bloom off the rose" or "honeymoon period" to end or any of that, because no one in their right mind expected it to be perfect in the first place.
Just off hand, some of my grievances over the years and now include:
-Pre-Brody Dark Order -The Nightmare collective -Britt Baker being the black hole of the women's division that all other talent get sucked into -2 heels winning the Owen Hart cup -Cody being something of a condescending douchebag when he's a face, sometimes -Lance Archer not being used better -Speaking of Lance Archer, Jake Roberts not being used better -An over-reliance on Moxley. I love the guy, he's truly their ace, but he needs that vacation, man. -Tony being petulant on twitter -Tony buying ROH because he wanted it but had no plan for how to use it in place -Wardlow getting his nuts cut off because Max had a bad day And, of course. -Whatever the f*** this whole outcasts bullshit NWO version 56743 is.
Only children think that just because someone doesn't like brand A that Brand B must ergo be perfect in every way with no flaws to speak of.
This thread was bait, and I'm mad at myself for taking it.

AEW is the only company ever where there’s regular discussions about the discussions about the company. It’s so weird. IDK, I think that happens sometimes with Nintendo. Nintendo, Lucasfilm and Blizzard are the big three for “discourse about the discourse” chats.

How about for every criticism we have about a wrestling organization, we then must say something that we genuinely like about that same product? Then afterwards no one gets pissy, and we can all hug and kiss. On a related note, I will no longer be critiquing anything from WWE or XPW. Thank you❤️

Don't forget about Russo having his own faction called Sports Entertainment Xtreme, which of course is an acronym that spells S-E-X. I can imagine Russo being off camera every time S-E-X was said saying "Get it?? GET IT??!!"

Fun fact, that GIF is one of a handful of GIFs I have saved on my phone that I personally did not make😁 I was so happy when I found out I can watch the series again on YouTube. Not great quality, but my girlfriend hasn't seen it, and it's been fun rewatching it with her. RIP Hartman

I have been watching the show since the beginning and went to an Acclaimed signing this weekend, so I am by no means an AEW hater. But it seems the promotion gets a lot of benefit of the doubt by being Not Vince and seeing people like QT Marshall made me ask the above question. I just find my interest in AEW has been lessening recently. I still enjoy plenty of the roster, but more and more there are just so many people who make me roll my eyes when they're on TV and most of the story lines have been meh. Like I've always enjoyed Toni Storm, Ruby Riot and Saraya, but this New Brat Order is a mashup of Damage Ctrl (which got worse by the week) and the NWO. The women are still getting one match per TV show, so I'm tired of hearing it's all leading somewhere. They have 'dream matches' with guys I have to Google to know anything about and plenty of people sitting in catering. I just feel since HHH took over (and who knows what's gonna happen there?), WWE has been more coherent and has better story lines yet his honeymoon on the board ended pretty quick. Does anyone else feel this way or am I a lone voice screaming in the void when I hear Daddy Magic's voice? Dude, don't ever feel like you're alone in feeling like AEW is filled with nonsense and that criticism of the company is warranted. The way things are nowadays is treated in a binary sense; if you don't like Option A, you must like Option B, and that either option must be defended with your very life. Anyone who actually decides to go outside of that is looked at weird. But, these types of threads don't exactly help because they just degrade into monkey hollering contests. I myself get chastised for being *too* negative about the company and I'm guilty of making several negative threads already, so how does this help?

There was no point in making this except to add to the unwarranted shitting on of AEW. It's old. Okay, then when is it warranted to shit on AEW? When Tony Khan makes a fool of himself on social media? When wrestlers misbehave? When it feels like there's a blatant glass ceiling and that its possible a talent will never go up in the company no matter how long they're there? When it feels like the company treats shows as inconsequential? Help me out here.

Idk man you said it above but maybe if you weren't negative all the time about wrestlers to the point it sounds like a personal vendetta against some of them, stuff you say would be taken much better Your criticism of the company has come off as anything but fair, but you clearly hate it, to the point you have yourself admitted it's unhealthy, so idk what to tell you, I'd genuinely tell you to just stay away if it's causing that much distress to your mental health.
