I want the new threat to the Marvel Universe to just be some random guy named Larry. I would accept that, but only if he has a pair of non speaking henchmen named Daryl and Daryl...yeah I've been binge watching Newhart lately what of it?

Larry should be a guy who just hates Brie Larson because those other people do.

Sure, Bob. Whatever you say. I stay out of these threads because I very much understand I’m an outsider who much of the board would regard as film bro/Scorcese fan/cinephile (not complete untrue) but we keep talking about the wrong lessons film execs learn from both movie failures and successes—needing MORE executive micromanaging of a Marvel movie may be the worst yet.

As much as the last 12 months have thoroughly demolished the idea that Elon Musk was some kind of tech genius, the last six months have been equally efficient in exploding Bob Iger's reputation as one of the best Hollywood CEOs in history... or, at the very least, exposing just how low that bar actually is. Ironically, Marvel's most successful period came following Iger's decision to remove the overbearing executive oversight.

Sure, Bob. Whatever you say. He's completely right. That's the issue, it's not that they've massively oversaturated the market with MCU projects, have had more mid than damn good products after Endgame, don't have a coherent narrative, and don't have central characters, it is 100% not enough executive oversight.

Its also not like they trained their own audience to just wait for everything to show up on their streaming platform and save on movie tickets or anything, either.

If Iger is just going to micromanage Feige and the writers and the directors like Perlmutter did, I can tell you, no good will come of it.

I think the oversight might be more coming in the form of "Hey, do we REALLY need to spend $200+ million pre-marketing on The Marvels?" or "Is Indy 5 being the most expensive movie ever made critical to the story you're trying to tell? Think we could tighten that up a bit?" or "Somebody approved $100 million for a sequel to f***ing WILLOW?!?! AND they're still employed?!?"

And it wouldn't be if Disney had just accepted that they were re-making Snow White, there was no way in hell you were gonna be able to tell that story and not piss someone off because of the Dwarfs, taken it on the chin, and just cast f***ing actors (little people or otherwise) in the roles instead of CGI. I mean, even the little person community seems split behind Peter Dinklidge's take (the whole concept is offensive) and Swoggle's take (f*** offensive, more jobs for little people!) so Disney was never gonna keep everyone happy with this flick

Iger also said, "We have to entertain first. It's not about messages," so get ready for nothing but white dudes in movies from now on because I know that dogwhistle.

There's nothing that justifies spending 300 million.
Dinklage though seemed to be ignorant as he claimed that The Dwarfs lived in a cave. They worked in the cave mining the gems and lived in a cottage. Anyone could tell you that.
