"Dwayne Johnson here, stay tuned for an exclusive USA sneak peek at my new movie..."
did this commercial PISS anyone else off. First off he isnt Duane Johnson to those of us who watch Raw, he is "The Rock". He left wrestling to be a movie star, yadda yadda more power to him. The problem I have is that he wants to be taken soooo serious and be called by his first name, why in the hell does he STILL rely on the casual wrestling fan to watch his movie? I could understand if he said "Hey Raw fans, the people Champ, The Rock is here with a sneek peek..
but noppppe no rock at all.. just Dwayne Johnson
maybe im just lame but did anyone get offended by this?
man i hate the rock

Didn't bother me a bit.
Let him call himself what he wants.

I don't care. He's not The Rock anymore. And renaming himself isn't going to make his movies suck any less.

im more offended by the fact that he wants to be a 'serious actor' by dropping the Rock name and he is now staring in a movie called 'Race to Witch Mountain'

It's his name. Why have a problem calling a man by his birth name? That makes no sense. He was Dwayne Johnson long before he was the Rock.

I dunno. I can see his point. I was actually a little miffed at that myself. He may be a big time superstar B-movie actor now, but if he is gonna advertise his crappy movies to the ones who made him in the first place, Itd be nice for him to at least reference his past....But maybe its just me.

I have no problem with that. He's free to call himself whatever he wants.

So we should be mad at Dwayne Johnson for calling himself by his real name, yet we are all suppose laugh at the Ultimate Warrior when he wants to be called by his ring name outside the ring?

Why does he need to reference his past? We already know who the smurf he is and what he's done. No need to waste time stating the obvious.

It bothered me too. He could've at least said: "aka The Rock the People's Champ!" Or something to that effect. I hope he doesn't get Hoganed and have to come running back to us anytime soon.

I have a feeling you cannot be "The Rock" when you work for Disney.

Wait... I thought he was going by "DJ" or "Uncle Johnson" in the last commercial. Maybe he wants to be the new Robmeister.

I disagree with the OP 100%. Especially in the wake of the FU-->"Attitude Adjustment" selling out from the WWE.
If DWAYNE JOHNSON wants people to refer to him by his legal name (and not by some over-the-top character he created when he was a wrestler), that somehow gives people to right to get pissed off?! Jesus, does Chris Jericho need to punch somebody in the face?
The DJ doesn't "need" to rely on RAW viewers to see his movie, he's got the Disney fanbase to rely on, and *surprise* Disney films pretty much are instant-buy attractions for families. If you've ever paid attention to those "Did You Know?" spots on RAW, the cable show is the highest rated thing on TV, so it's simply business for the DJ to make a deal with Vince for some promotional opportunities.
Seriously, I just don't understand how the Dwayne Johnson hate can even be justified in this day and age. Let the man live his life.

I still like him but yeah, it offended me a bit too. He should have atleast calling himself The Rock. I mean, us Raw fans don't know him as Dwayne Johnson. We know him as the Rock, so he should call himself by what we know him as.
I don't have a problem with him doing it in his movies, but this was a message to the WWE fans... "Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson'" would have been passable...

I'm offended at the sight of the garbage he produces and expects people to pay for the pleasure of viewing. I think it was stupid to change his name though. It isn't like show business is too respectable for someone called "The Rock" nor is it like The Rock makes Academy caliber films that are above the said name. Show business praises characters like Cher, Bono, DJ Qualls, and a man called Sting. The Rock sounds a lot cooler and edgier than Duane.
