Offended? nope. Not even a lil bit. Figured there might be a thread about it, but that's as far as my thought process went really.

im thankful he was here for his brief period of time, but to say we owe the rock so much is outrageous! We owe the Undertakers, the Ric flair's, the Steve Austin's...not some former pro football player who only wanted to be famous and used wrestling as a catapult to acheive what he wants ( not thats there is anything wrong with that) If you think that the Rock has no relation to the boom period being what it was, you are absolutely wrong in that thought. He wasn't the only one that made it what it was, yes, but he and Steve Austin made wrestling in the late '90s. Without his name and abilities it wouldn't have soared to the mainstream popularity as much as it did.

Hell his dream was to play football, but that didn't pan out so he went to wrestling. It wasn't until he got his first movie role that then led to other roles that he thought that maybe acting was a big opportunity for him. Hell, do you think Hulk Hogan would have done the same thing? Hell yes. Except that he wasn't a very good actor that's why he got stuck in a bunch of low budget movies. Stone Cold wanted to get into acting as well, but besides from the WWE Films movies and a few bit parts, nothing ever came of it. DJ was successful because he had impeccable timing, good facial expressions, attractive, and young. Sure he may not have had many HUGE hits, but he's been successful enough that lead roles for big budget movies keep rolling in.

Offended? lol are you serious? With fans like these no wonder some people don't want to be associated with other wrestling fans.

This thread reminds of the scene in Coming to America.
Saul: A man has the right to change his name to vatever he vants to change it to. And if a man vants to be called Muhammad Ali, godammit this is a free country, you should respect his vishes, and call the man Muhammad Ali! Morris: His mamma call him Clay, Imma call him Clay.

Let me tell you something once and for all. Rocky Marciano was good, but compared to Joe Louis, Rocky Marciano ain't shit

Not offended in the least. Dwayne Johnson gave me some of my favorite, fondest wrestling memories. For that, he's earned the right to call himself anything he damn well pleases. He owes me nothing. If anything, I owe him.
For the record, I only watch his movies when they come out on video, if at all. But I do enjoy his work when I do see it.

Didn't bother, offend, or annoy me in the slightest. I don't need Dwayne to give an eyebrow, or tell me to "smell-l-l-l-l-l-l-l-l-l-l" what he's cookin', or any of that. He's a man doing what he wants to do, not a doll that says what you want him to say when you pull a string on his back. But hey, I hated "The Rock" and I actually like Dwayne, so what do I know? *shrug*

I just don't like why he thinks he's so far and above the wrestling world, yet EVERY new movie that comes back he makes it a point to do a sneak peak of it after RAW. Now that's a hypocrite in my opinion (and I did like the rock and still would if he ever came back).

^ That's probably just the studio putting him out there during Raw under the impression that wrestling fans will go to his movies based on past loyalty or something.
And I really don't think he acts like he's above wrestling at all. But even if he did, he's given more than enough to the business to be able to feel how ever he wants about it. It's the guys who came into the business, got their paycheck, and left with little regard or respect for the profession that deserve ire. The Rock routinely put people over, put asses in seats, and carried the brand on his back (along with HHH) from 1999-2000 while Austin was out. I mean, I don't think anybody really has the right to talk down about wrestling, but hey, if that's how he feels he's entitled to it. He still doesn't owe me a People's eyebrow or an "If you smeeeeeelll" every time he wants to promote a movie. Even if the movie IS yet another Disney project.

I've always admired that Rock was able to stay away, and as a wrestling fan honestly I'm proud of him for really making it in Hollywood.
That being said, if he's gonna be on a promo during RAW he could have at least made a TINY reference to The Rock. Its not like one tiny little eyebrow or "If Ya Smell" is gonna ruin his entire Hollywood career.

I don;t remember sneak peeks for Southland Tales or The Game Plan but if I'm wrong please correct me. Did they do it for Be Cool? I'm pretty sure he did it for both of them actually from what I remember. Know for sure he did it for Game Plan.

I don't really take it seriously enough to be offended, it's his life he could do as he pleases. It's not like he needs our permission to call himself Dwayne.

We didn't get that here obviously but reading what happened I personally wasn't offended but I can see how some people can be. The Rock, sorry, Dwayne divided opinion when he left. Some people realised it was him moving on and good for him for doing so. Others felt betrayed that he seemingly turned his back on the people that made him famous. It depends on what camp you fall into. Come on, he made no secret of the fact that he used wrestling as a stepping stone and it was a great move. You telling me that you would rather make $2 million a year, putting your body through hell four times a week, 52 weeks a year or make $20 million a year for making a couple crummy movies? We all know how the mainstream views wrestling and it isn't a good light. Disney obviously want him to distance himself from 'The Rock' and thats what he's doing. They pay him and he isn't a wrestler anymore. He can call himself what he damn well pleases.
