Don't understand this at all, really too bad. Try as I might, I can't understand the "logic" (by both companies) of putting a guy in the right spot, getting the crowd behind him, and then slamming on the brakes. And then doing it again. And again. Then being astonished when a lot of fans decide any emotional investment in the wrestler is wasted and finally give up completely on him. And by the way: Did he take the Slim Jim deal with him? That should not be no-sold.

Just more proof that the rumors that TNA was looking to get back to focusing on their homegrown young talent was a load of crap. They really dropped the ball on Jay, but the upside is, when he goes back to ROH, he'll be more seasoned that ever before.
But still, garbage release, considering some of the deadweight still on the roster.

What an utter joke this company is. Seriously, that's the most ridiculous thing they've done since bringing in Bubba the Love Sponge. Such a horrific waste of a man who had boundless potential and enthusiasm.

Seems strange, especially since he was well liked even by Bischoff and Hogan backstage. seems like the Daniels issues, and we all know how that ended... What an utter joke this company is. Seriously, that's the most ridiculous thing they've done since bringing in Bubba the Love Sponge. Such a horrific waste of a man who had boundless potential and enthusiasm. To be fair, pretty much everyone on the roster has "boundless potential" of some sort.

BTW, he could have been released last week but news sites being what they are today, it is likely nobody got the news till this week so the birthday firing deal=unconfirmed rumor. Still sucks he got let go but as mentioned above he'll get more money this go in ROH than he had before. Not TNA, PPV program against Flair but better ROH money

Man, to can a guy who managed to not just GET OVER with such a silly gimmick, but get over HUGE.....just......damn, TNA, what are you thinking? Oh, well, at least this means he'll likely be back in ROH.

Wow... and to think that just months ago, he was the best thing in the company and sure to be a big star. What the hell?

Such a horrific waste of a man who had boundless potential and enthusiasm. To be fair, pretty much everyone on the roster has "boundless potential" of some sort. Well, except for the substantial number who are well past their prime, and those who have shown very little despite many chances. We have here a man in his mid-20s - one of the youngest on the roster despite years of experience - who has pinned Kurt Angle, held his own in a promo battle with Ric Flair (to big crowd reaction and critical acclaim) and pulled off a dubious gimmick. Not only that, but he actually looked like he gave a stuff about the company, always seeming enthusiastic and good-natured in and out of the ring. When people like that are released, and I see the likes of RVD, who clearly could not care less and contribute nothing, or people from reality shows who probably earn more in a few minutes than Lethal does in months, if not a year, then I really start to hate TNA.

On the day Jay Lethal gets released, TNA brings back Miss Taskmaster. I do not care for these recent turn of events.

What about everyone else, those young guys all over the card who people were clamoring for all the time? what about then, who seem to be tossed aside so you can make a point of the bad stuff that is both perception and some occasional appearance. Yeah it sucks that he was released, and it is a bad decision without question, but the amount of love he seems to get here, seems like TNA did their job in the first place. Hear me out. The guy, when he debuted, was known for just Special K and his horrible promo during his ROH run. After about 4-5 years in TNA, the man turned into this big favorite around here, especially during his last part of his run. I really don't think this will be the last we see on Lethal, and I could see him coming back to TNA later on (many people have), or going on to WWE or even more success down the line. You said yourself about what he has, and I really doubt it won't get him anywhere, even if it's just back to TNA or the indies or whatever.

A damn shame, but still, it's not like they were planning to do much with him. I'll be awaiting his next move.

You said yourself about what he has, and I really doubt it won't get him anywhere, even if it's just back to TNA or the indies or whatever. The problem with TNA is not that they do everything wrong. If it were, then it would be quite simple - I wouldn't even bother. The problem is that they show hints of getting it right, and then absolutely waste it. Lethal and Flair is but one example. As for those "young guys all over the card"...who? I'm looking at the Lockdown card, and the "young guys" (30 or under) are: Amazing Red Chris Sabin Jay Lethal Max Buck & Jeremy Buck Robbie E Crimson Magnus Every one of them was involved in an eight-man match at the beginning of the show. Four of them have been in TNA for years. One of them is now gone. I don't see how people have received what they have been clamoring for. Indeed, one might argue that the loss of Daivari, Lethal, Creed and co would negate even those few gains.

On the day Jay Lethal gets released, TNA brings back Miss Taskmaster. I do not care for these recent turn of events. I dont think Kevin Sullivan's relatives or spouses are wrestling. And I dont think Kevin Sullivan plans on wearing a dress in the future for any company. *shudders* I think I gave myself nightmare material.

The famous Lethal/Flair dueling promo, for your viewing pleasure (about 4 minutes in). That was the damnedest promo I've ever seen. Luckily for him, the new guy in charge at WWE is a huge Flair mark. I'd love to see Lethal thrive in WWE and show TNA what they missed out on. You know what I don't get?...Jay Lethal gets fired...yet Kiyoshi still has a job. Actually, Kiyoshi got the boot. Same day as Daffney, I believe.

Could this have something to do with Dixie's mom now being in charge of the financial side of the company? Is she indiscriminately slashing workers left and right, ala WCW in its dying days?
