So, this match seems to draw a lot of different viewpoints on it. While yes, it probably was unprofessional... it still was funny as hell and made what would be a crappy match at least entertaining, IMO.

It made the match 5 times better than it would have been otherwise. As a fan, that's all I ask.

He sold the way '80s heels always sold for Hulk Hogan, and it did a great job of giving us a retro, Rock 'n Wrestling sort of match.

It was hilarious in hindsight but had I paid money and got that as a main event, I'd have demanded my money back.

Unprofessional. Many smarks/Hogan haters will enjoy it because 1) Hogan was on the receiving end of it, and 2) in their warped minds they actually believe Hogan had it coming for allegedly not wanting to continue the feud past Summerslam. If karma exists, then Hulk may as well have been guided by the ghost of Davey Boy Smith because Shawn never got his comeuppance for what he did to DBS at One Night Only, which was 10 times worse than anything Hulk, HHH, Austin, or anyone could do (well, Austin beat his wife, but I'm talking wrestling related). Shawn wanted to play politics in the 90's? Well, when you play politics with the master, you will lose. And you lost.
I didn't mind the selling, even though I knew the reason Shawn was doing it, until the big leg sequence. I'm glad Hogan waiting an eternity to hit the leg drop. Please do not compare Shawn's selling here to Curt Hennig's. One, Hennig sold like that for everyone (not just Hulk), and two I have never heard anyone say negative things about Hennig's professionalism. Shawn? Yeah, speaks for itself.

I found it utterly hilarious, "unprofessional" or not. I watch wrestling to be entertained, and Michaels was, and is, entertaining. Without his selling, the match would have been mostly forgettable.

Hulk Hogan is absolute garbage and is paying for every selfish, vile act he's ever done. If you feel sorry for Hogan, then there is something very wrong with you...That man ruined careers, companies, and is just a wrestling cancer these days... Yeah Shawn's a selfish tool as well, but like I said Hogan gets what he paid for

Let it be said, I am not a fan of the backstage BS that Hogan and HBK are infamous for (although has Hogan taken part in anything close to Montreal?). But I voted "totally unprofessional". It was a deliberate insult to Hogan. For a guy who claims to have grown up, it was remarkably immature.

While the selling of the big boot was just insane, HBK used several of the exact same techniques (specifically pushing off the bottom rope when getting slammed into the buckles) during the HIAC match with Undertaker, which is widely regarded as a classic.
I have never heard anyone accuse HBK of "overselling" in that match, despite the fact that he was at the undisputed height of his unprofessionalism in the fall of 1997.

I watched the ending of the Summerslam 95 ladder match the other night and when Shawn went for the IC title and fell before grabbing it he got up, got the ladder and started lifting it up and down in tantrum fashion. He did the same thing to Vader the next year when Vader wasn't in position.
I wish so much Bret hadn't forgiven Shawn in 2010. He probably had to do it to be at peace but a lot of bad that has happened in wrestling is because of the actions of both Shawn and Hogan, all the WCW guaranteed contracts to crotch chops to an old school honest to goodness wrestler like Owen Hart having to take on a silly make fun of yourself gimmick in 1999 Blue Blazer to get a push.
For all the heat Triple H gets and probably deserves from fans at least his position is based on his love life. It would be hard for any company to knock down the bosses daughter's husband from a top position unless it was proven to be a shame but with many years of marriage and children it's a lot to go through for a top position. I think Triple H is legit but Hogan will put his name on anything crappy to make money and his name probably devalues it because it comes with so much baggage. For as unprofessional as Shawn has been somehow I don't see him going to Marty Jannetty and trying to get Marty something out of the injury to Charles Austin, a "real ality" show as Hogan's boy would call it.
I voted for you screwed Bret.

Disgusting. Whatever you think of Hulk Hogan as a person, he is the biggest name and legend in the history of the wrestling business and should be treated with respect. For someone like Michaels who as a main eventer couldn't draw flies to a pile of shit, especially in comparison to Hogan, to behave like that in a pay per view main evnet is utterly despicable.

Just a receipt for Hogan changing the match format and finish. And not like Hulk haven't done things to others when he didn't his way. Remember his match with Randy Orton?

Hilarious AND unprofessional, as others have said. A fun glimpse into the fiesty side that Shawn tries so hard to shove down these days... a side that made him hard to work with, but also made him highly entertaining.
No crocodile tears from me for Hogan, though. I don't hate him at all, but I think when you're throwing your weight around, you'd best be ready for a bit of pushback. It made the match entertaining; both guys should call it even and move on, which I think they have.

What happened between HBK and the Bulldog at One Night Only?
