Oh my God.
I literally just saw them in Kansas City on Sunday.
Wow, one of the best singers I've ever heard.

52! F***ING 52? Way too young, holy shit. Easily one of the best rock vocalist there will ever be. First 3 Soundgarden albums are killer.

I know he's better known for his time in Soundgarden and Audioslave but You Know My Name is IMO the best Bond theme in years. Goldfinger and Live and Let Die are classics, but I'd go so far as to say that I think You Know My Name is the best Bond theme. That line "I've seen angels fall from blinding heights" gives me chills

This is heartbreaking, for a lot of reasons.
Selfishly the biggest one was I was finally going to be able to see them live this weekend after numerous times of trying to see them live, but something always coming up. They were one of the big reasons I was going to Rock on the Range this year. While I'm sure it'll still be enjoyable, it sucks and feels like a rain cloud's going to be hanging over that festival.
Damn.

Just checked the Detroit Free Press website.
It was suicide. Shit.

Suicide is probably the worst outcome here considering he was just touring and everything seemed to be good
That is absolute worst, musnt have been a warning sign...

A real downer. He always brought up memories in my head of Beavis and Butthead, and other quintessentially 90s stuff.

This one f***ing hurts. Soundgarden is one of my top 5 bands. I've never gotten to see them live before, but I was going to in about a week.
All my best wishes for his family, friends and band mates.

And someone mentioned the other 90s bands...well, I can think of at least two others who ended by suicide, of course. /Unless you believe the Courtney conspiracy theories.

From CNN.com THIS was the last song he did...eerily ominous
"The Grammy-winning rocker had performed Wednesday night at the Fox Theatre in Detroit. He ended his performance with a cover of Led Zeppelin's "In My Time of Dying." "

Just learned about this on the news screen on the elevator to my office. but still Holy crap, he was in the middle of a Sound Garden tour too he posted something like 13 hours ago about his show in Detroit. RIP Chris and Condolences to his family. That what really getting to me, that this happened just hours after his was up on stage doing a show. So sad and heart breaking. RIP Chris

I just spent hours with a friend not but 2 days ago talking about how underappreciated he is as a vocalist, discussing Soundgarden, Temple of the Dog, Audioslave, and even his top 2-3 Bond Song for Casino Royale.
RIP to one of my all time favorites. This one stings.

I had just recently saw him perform on the Tonight Show and I thought he looked good. He sounded great and I was happy to see him still putting out good stuff. I haven't kept up with him much in recent years but I had Soundgarden - Louder Than Love, Badmotorfinger and Superunknown in heavy rotation when I was a kid. I popped huge when I saw Casino Royale on the big screen and heard his voice on the soundtrack. Such an incredible talent. RIP Chris Cornell. My heart goes out to his family and friends.

Suicide? Damn it. And I'm not just saying this in tribute but his cover of Billie Jean blows Michael Jackson's out the water.
There I said it
