I know he's better known for his time in Soundgarden and Audioslave but You Know My Name is IMO the best Bond theme in years.

I'm trying not to cry. Soundgarden really helped me during my miserable teenage years.

Was at Soundgarden concert just two years ago at Melbourne's Festival Hall.
The loudest concert I have ever been to. My ears were ringing for days afterwards. Mostly because they ended with Slaves & Bulldozers which concluded with them leaving their instruments near the amps cause massive feedback.
A great night
RIP

Soundgarden is one of my favorite bands of all time.

I am so f***ing upset by this news. Soundgarden was one my first "favorite" bands. Songs like Mailman & 4th of July helped me through some really rough times in my life. This has hit me even harder than Bowie. I was finally going to see Soundgarden live for the 1st time next week. I... I just can't even right now... I hate this. I didn't know the guy but this feels like a long time friend has just left us. I'm so bummed out.

f*** man, this is unwelcome news Loved Soundgarden and Temple of the Dog Ironically was just listening to Audioslave at work just now. I'm not going to start blaming the year but this sucks, one of the few big deaths I'm pretty gutted about. R.I.P Cornell.

R.I.P. Soundgarden now joins nirvana, stone temple pilots and Alice in chains, in the group of 90s band where the front singer is no longer with us anymore.

He's definitely the last one left from the quartet of bands usually credited as the main acts of the Seattle grunge mainstream boom period (Alice In Chains, Nirvana, Soundgarden and Pearl Jam).

I'm still trying to cope with the shock of having just learned of his death. I've considered Chris Cornell one of the best vocalists I've ever heard since I first heard Soundgarden circa 1993. Cornell's first solo album, Euphoria Morning, is also one of my all-time favorite albums, and some of the songs he did with Audioslave (i.e. "Like a Stone") are incredible too.
We lost a ton of talented performers in 2016, and the end of 2015 was regrettable too - what with the passing of Scott Weiland. Those two are some of the all-time greatest vocalists I've ever heard.
