He was on the first couple of Raws I've ever watched. Unfortunately he was basically a manager, I'm sad I never watched in on his prime. Interestingly enough Bret admitted that early on Jim was the star of the team and more charismatic than him. Oh, Anvil absolutely was in their first run. Bret was always the better worker but he was a non-entity personality-wise when they were heels and even in the early part of their face run. Even in the mid/late 80's with all those big names the WWF had, Anvil instantly stood out with his look and the "NYAHAHAHAHA!" laugh.

The first WWF live event I ever went to was during the Hart Attack tour of the UK, headlined by Bret and Bulldog vs. Owen and Anvil. The Hart Foundation reunion on Raw in 1997 is one of my favourite moments of Raw history, but I think I was even more delighted when Anvil turned-up to join the others later on.
A properly unique character in wrestling, and someone that I loved seeing when he appeared on Total Divas.
This one hurts quite a bit...

I just came across a moment on twitter that I hadn’t thought about in a long time. It was a gif of a backstage promo with the Hart Foundation and the Legion of Doom where the Harts are out in front with the tag belts and Hawk is reaching forward and stroking Neidhart’s beard from behind them. I remember that popping me huge when I was a kid and it just did again. It was pretty awesome seeing the Road Warriors showing them support like that.

R.I.P Had been watching OSW review Wrestlemania 7 earlier today was on my mind today. In 1997 my interest in wrestling was waning and I think The Hart Foundation (can't believe there is only one left now) played a big part in find the spark again (that still continues with ups and downs to this day). Other note, can't pretend it's the same as people who have had ongoing seizures, but I suffered a seizure, my first and only, earlier this year and was lucky to be around family but I woke up in a hospital with a broken shoulder, so I can somewhat identify with the seriousness of them. A few years ago, I fell asleep in my parents room. It was the night KO became universal champion. I didn't feel any symptoms, I'd taken my medicines, etc.. I woke up, screaming that I separated my shoulder. That was all I could say. My mom noticed that I bit my tongue, so she took me to the hospital. We got there at 3 am, and there was an 8 hour wait, "because I wasn't priority anymore, for coming out of the seizure on my own". Since the doctor heard that, he said no matter what, I go in, without wait. It was a few years, before I could raise my arm all the way, again. I feel terrible for his friends and family, as seizures are no joke. I hope that they won't feel any "what could I have done, to help him" guilt.

Rest in Peace Anvil. It's chilling to think that in this business 63 is seen as old, but in reality it's still too young to go. From all reports though, he had a great relationship with his daughters (especially Nattie) and he and Ellie had a good marriage despite a lot of issues early. He also kicked a lot of addiction from drugs to gambling to live a comfortable retirement.
My heart goes out to his family, and at the same time I'm glad he was able to to turn his life around and have those positive relationships.

My fondest memory of the Anvil was when we sat in great seats at MSG to witness a Texas Tornado match of the Harts vs. British Bulldogs back in 1986. Jim the Anvil Neidhart was the only man standing once the smoke cleared. My mom used to call him The Advil, haha. R.I.P. Anvil

RIP. Really sucks to see him go, I loved imitating his laugh when I watched Hart Foundation matches as a kid. Hella charismatic dude.

Man, one of the most characterful wrestlers, when characterful wrestlers were everywhere he stood out. With that long goatee and crazy laugh. He was also great in the ring as the powerman to Brets technical side.
I always wanted him to team up with Greg Valentine, The Hammer and The Anvil seemed like an obvious pairing.
RIP

This is very sad news. It's remarkable how well the Hart Foundation worked as a team even though Bret Hart and Jim Neidhart were totally different from one another. Bret was the technical wrestler and Jim was the big powerhouse. On the mic, Bret was more laid back, while Jim was a lot more over-the-top with his personality. They played off each other very well. Jim Neidhart brought a lot of energy to everything he did in wrestling, both in the ring and on the mic. I will have a lot of fond memories of him. It's very sad that he had to go through something like Alzheimer's late in life and that his life ended so suddenly as a result. RIP Anvil!

The Hart Foundation is now down to just one......god this sucks. I'm sorry for Bret, Nattie, and the rest of the Hart Family. Well Jimmy Hart is still around, he was part of the original Hart Foundation And if you count him, Danny Davis. As for That Other Post....not the time, man. I am sure there were circumstances as to why Jim didn't get invited to a HOF ceremony at the time and few times can people see one's death coming. Vader I could understand, here? Not so much. It also goes to show that, like I said when Vader passed, we can mock all we want but we are all marks for WWE's HOF, whether we'll admit it or not. OK let's move along now.
